Castle Blue Restaurant

Castle Blue is a unique space - and you should arrive clearly understanding that this is not a roadhouse. The owner/chef Ted cooks everything himself. He’s a one man show and he cares about everything. So you have to be patient when it’s busy but it’s worth every minute. His team is amazing - so food. Yes, there are some specialties. His dry ribs are famous. They are fall off the bone delicious with an almost crispy exterior. A serving isn’t enough for a full dinner - you’ll need a side or an appetizer - but these are not to missed. The burgers are great and the fries and poutine another specialty. His Caesar salad dressing is home made. Not from Gordon Food Services or Sysco but from scratch and tangy goodness. There aren’t many tables inside so if you are a group arriving slightly out of peak time might be better unless it’s nice for a table outside. They have a modest beer selection but have picked a few goodies. It isn’t full of ambiance - I’d love to give it a makeover. Just a few touches inside to make it less sterile. I really think it would benefit so much from a few design touches. He operates an exceptional kitchen and the dining area could be upgraded to reflect his otherwise high standard of excellence. But if you have to be outstanding somewhere in your restaurant, it’s pretty amazing when it is the kitchen!

The Water's Edge Wine Bar and Grill

Water's Edge is a great place for a lunch with a view. The pizza and sandwiches are very good and the bar has a fine selection of local beers. But watching the boats go up and down the lake is what takes lunch to the next notch.

Turtle Jack's Muskoka Grill

In 1992, the Lishman family had a dockside moment of inspiration. What if there was a premium restaurant that offered delicious, fresh food served with the same fun, relaxed hospitality one enjoys with family and friends at the cottage? From this simple d

I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap and it tasted like mold. I advised the manager and he made me feel like I was in the wrong that it was impossible that my wrap tasted like mold. Finally he agreed to bring me something else. So I ordered chicken strips. I had a few bites and was turned off as these also tasted like mold. I spent $54 for food and 2 drinks here for moldy chicken that I tossed in the garbage. I would never go back!
