County pub full of charm serving good quality traditional pub food locally sourced and freshly cooked
This small friendly pub provided a very pleasant evening for us. The menu was not extensive but the dishes we selected were well cooked, well presented and plentiful. Staff were very friendly and efficient, all in a lovely village setting.

Whilst visiting the south Peak District area we came across The Woodyard, Bakewell. We couldnât have enjoyed our meal out this particular Friday evening (20/09/19) anymore more! A fascinating building, open plan inside, such happy staff to meet you and show you to your table (we recommended the high chairs along the top left hand side - good vantage point over the restaurant). Plenty of choice from starters, mains and desserts along with sharing plates (which we enjoyed). Top Top Top service offered by the team at The Woodyard - very interested in you as their customer(s) and so friendly - cannot thank them enough for such great customer service! (big shout out especially to Ellie and Tom). When visiting this part of the world, stop by, youâll certainly enjoy your visit to The Woodyard!Thank you so much for taking time to leave your fabulous review. Iâm so happy to hear you enjoyed your experience with us, I will be sure to pass on your comments to the team. We look forward to seeing you again soon

We were recommended to the Ashford Arms by staff at the nearby Premier Inn.It has a large restaurant, but on a Wednesday evening it was all but full. This tells it's own story, the food was excellent, really excellent.Nice range of home cooked items, plus numerous pies, steaks etc. All beautifully cooked and presented.Friendly helpful young, waiting team.Very reasonable prices.(They do rooms, and we'll certainly stay there next time we visit the area â similar price to a Premier inn, when you take account of breakfast, and much nicer food)

Called in on a busy Bank Holiday weekend for Sunday lunch. We both ordered the Roast beef dinner and it didn't disappoint, great service, good food and friendly efficient service. Atmospheric, traditional English pub.

Traditonal pub, with a modern twist serving a selction of well kept cask ales, and excellent pub grub.
A long way from home, we came to The Manners for lunch. Inside and outside it appears to be a no-frills pub. The food, however, is absolutely amazing. A high proporttion of items on the menu were either gluten-free or could be made so (important for us as one of us is gluten-free). One of us had cod wrapped in Parma ham with green beans and citrus cream sauce, the other had honey roasted belly pork on black pudding hash. Exceedingly generous portions, beautifully presented, exquisitely cooked. In decades of eating pub lunches and dinners, I do not recall one as good as this one at The Manners. With a side of veg, two lime and sodas the bill came to £33 - unbelievably good value. The super-friendly waitress told us that a husband and wife team own and run the pub and do the cooking. Well done to them and many thanks!A lovely place which we will be back to next year when we make our annual pilgrimage to the Rock and Fossil Fair in Bakewell.

Called in here on the back of a verbal recommendation from a fellow walker. Very quiet Monday lunch but enjoyed delicious french onion soup with a melted cheese and mushroom warm ciabatta . Following a look at the evening menu decided to call back later for dinner. Not a huge menu but nevertheless quite busy and we enjoyed a tasty lamb tagine. Usual beers and wine selection. Welcoming and friendly with good service. No problem in visiting again.
