The history of the Golden Pot was somewhats chequered. Now however, it's right at the top of places to go to for a pleasant evening.I hadn't been there for years actually but I've been told by a number of friends that I should go. So glad I did. Went with a friend for evening meal and we both enjoyed ourselves tremendously,We were made to feel welcome the minute we entered and we asked to go straight to our table. My companion decided just to have water as she was very kindly driving .I asked to see the wine menu first as we had agreed that I could choose my food to suit the wine. Sometimes it's fun to do it that way around. The food we had was magnificent. After the first course, we asked if we could have about 15 minutes before having our main . No problem. It's things like this that makes the service stand out. Will definitely be going back and I'm scoring The Golden Pot 10/10.BTW, did you know that The Golden Pot is the only pub named on an Ordinance Survey map. (Apparently.....that little gem was a question in a pub quiz)

Welcome to the White Hart A warm welcome awaits you at The White Hart. Lying at the heart of the picturesque Hampshire village of Holybourne, you'll enjoy a vibrant atmosphere along with a fantastic selection of ales, wines and spirits and a mouth-waterin
It was Saturday evening and the restaurant was not busy so we got stable straight away. The choice on the menu was really good and there were two menus to choose from. Between the four of us we had three different meals all of which was really good, very tasty. We were pleased to have the food served hot and on hot plates. Staff were very attentive and ensured we had all that we required to complete our meal. The desert was really sweet and we all had the same, Sticky Toffee pudding. Would we eat here again, yes we would not perfect but not far short of it.

This pub is opposite Jane Austen's house and next to Chawton House and they milk their location and foreign tourists and other visitors dry. £14 for burger and fries. The burger was a processed meat brick, with very chunky-cut inedible coleslaw and oven chips. Wait time was slow. Rip off. Meanwhile Chawton House were offering a Decent lunch for £7 in their cafe.Dear Anna CThank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We are obviously saddened to hear that you didn't enjoy your meal. I would however like to clear up a few points that you have made. You are correct we are situated opposite Jane Austen House museum and about 10 minutes away from Chawton house. We do not however MILK tourists whether they be foreign or not. We are a first and foremost an independently owned, village pub and our aim is to provide our guests with good drink, service and what we believe good food. The majority of our trade comes from local people that visit us on a regular basis, obviously any extra trade from the local tourist sites is welcome and we do our best to cater for their needs. Now for the burger; All burgers are made with processed meat (mince) otherwise they would be a steak sandwich. The mince we use to make our burgers is a 50/50 mix of Chuck and brisket as we believe that its brings the right mix of flavour and fat content, the patty itself is 8oz (half a pound). The burger bun is a sourdough bun made to our specifications by our bread supplier. The chips go nowhere near an oven, they are peeled and hand chipped before being triple cooked (boiled, low temp fried and then high temp fried to order). The coleslaw again is hand cut (hence the irregular shape), mixed with half mayonnaise, half natural yoghurt and finished with smoked chipotle. All our burgers come garnished with pancetta jam which we make in house, bacon and a choice of cheese including truffled Manchego. Colsten Bassett stilton, smoked Caerphilly etc etc.As you can see we donât just throw food on a plate and hope no one notices as we RIP OFF tourists. We cook everything to order and use the freshest ingredients we can find. This all takes time, as you would know if you order a main course without a starter you would normally look to wait at least 20 minutes for you food. All this aside, we never ask anybody to pay for food that they have not enjoyed, we always replace the dish or refund the cost. At no point has anyone complained about the burger to us!! If you had we would done everything in our power to rectify the situation. Kind regardsSimon, Norma and team Greyfriar (evil milkers of tourists)

TripAdvisor Review Nov 02, 2014: 'This is a gem of a small pub. What the owners have done is so obvious and apparently simple, that you can't but help wonder why more don't do it. Make the place homely, relaxed and inviting. Get a professional in the kitc
Lunch for four three of us had the locally made mistrust steak and ale pies which were very good full of flavour and good shortcrust pastry. The burger was also excellent the thick cut chips were really scrumptious. Service was very good.

Hidden away down a little lane on the edge of Bentworth Village in Hampshire, The Sun Inn is a very pretty, flower-adorned and unspoilt rural free-house dating back to the 16th century. Brick and board floors are laid with a rustic mix of scrubbed pine ta

This Pub could be good but the landlord has zero people skills.Customers spend serious money and they expect to be treated reasonably. You get the impression that you are an inconvenience and the customer service from the landlord is poor at best.Food is OK not exceptional. It could be a much better customer experience if the landlord had a significantly better attitude. Based on that we will not return, although we have visited more than once. What a shame it could be good however but "he" needs to change or not be front of house.
