Visited this place for the first time today for afternoon tea (Groupon deal) Made to feel welcome from the minute we walked in. Food was beautifully presented and very fresh. Staff attentive and checked on us several times. All of it was delicious and would definitely return. Thank you!

We went yesterday for dinner and I must say the food was really tasty. I had sea bass delicious the green beans and the fish was perfectly cooked. My husband had steak and ale pie and next time Iâm getting that. My son had a chicken burger and the chorizo relish was so tasty. Then we shared a brownie I liked the chewiness but would serve with vanilla ice cream rather than chocolate. We also had sticky toffee pudding and that was ok. We had drinks and the meal was just shy of £70 not bad I thought. Service was fine just a bit of a delay between main and sweet. I like to wait but at 20 mins we had to remind the staff. They were great and desserts arrived. This place is on my doorstep so I will be back. Thanks for the lovely review and glad to hear you all enjoyed it. By all means next time ask for Vanilla Ice Cream! We can certainly do that for you! Apologies about the wait for desserts, sounds like a bit of a mishap on our side but again glad you enjoyed them. See you again soon!!

Sunday visit. Family of 8 adults. Great menu choice. Very busy but staff managed to serve us without too much waiting. Quite a few noisy children dining in restaurant, which is to be expected in a family restaurant but i wish parents would look after their children and be aware what and where they are. It is not up to the staff to serve food AND supervise children. The floor was covered in dropped food and fallen napkins and when i visited the ladies, a group of 3 giggling x 8/9 year olds decided to leave and pushed past me! They had obviously been up to high jinks... They had left loo roll everywhere, even one roll (Completely wet) had been tossed into one of the sinks. I felt so sorry for the staff who were so busy and didnt want the next person to enter the ladies to find it in the state it was in... so i cleared up the loo roll mess myself. Not really something iâd have chosen to do on a afternoon outing. Iâve been to the Bootle Arms a number of times over many years and other family restaurants too, but this was the first visit were iâd observed such unruly children in a family restaurant. Not the restaurants fault but i think iâll avoid Sunday afternoons here for a while. Great place all in all, but i think Iâll go back to dining here mid-week from now on

I have just ate in this pub where do I start? Sticky vandalised table, Worn dirty upholstery, Booth at table 2 had food debris all up it that looked old and hard not fresh at all, Food although it looked nice was tasteless and bland, A cat walking round although I love cats not really hygienic where people are eating, The place needs a complete revamp itâs tired and worn which I get with a busy pub but there is NO excuse for poor housekeeping the place needs a good scrub and I wonât be returning. Hungry horse management need to inspect and overhaul their pubs as this is not the first I have been to of such poor standard. Certainly would not be gaining any decent food hygiene stars if they where to visit in the near future Iâm sure. Thank you for coming to us and for your review. We have already responded to your review via facebook, but again we do aplogise for your recebt visit. We have been intouch with a rescue center who have been and scanned the cat to contact the owner. Unfortunatly it is not chipped, but the owner is local and been in several times. We do not encourage the cat in any way and have taken a humaine approach to discourage the cat as much as possible. Thank you from all the Blue Anchor Team

Stopped here for a cold drink having been on a long walk with the dog. Drinks were fine and the barmaid was pleasant and helpful. However the beer garden was minging, tables not cleared, packets of salt, dirty napkins and bits of food on the floor not to mention all the cigarette ends strewn all over the ground. I certainly wouldnât go there with a toddler, too much to be picked up by inquisitive little hands. My son is 7 though so didnât affect us apart from it not looking nice. There was no sign anywhere we could see banning dogs so tied our Labrador under the table where he laid down and went to sleep after his 3 hour walk. We were then informed that dogs were not allowed on the premises so had to drink up fast and leave. Apparently this is because of the childrenâs play area onsite but honestly the discarded rubbish was more dangerous than my supervised sleeping dog tucked under the table at my feet. On the way out we double checked and there were NO signs advising that dogs are not allowed. I suggest the management might like to rectify this to properly inform prospective customers. Wonât be visiting again. So let me first address some of the points you have madeDogs arenât allowed... to access the beer garden you would have to walk through the inside of the pub passing customers who are dining/drinking ...Strangers to the pub are usually polite enough to check with the bar staff if dogs are allowed. The beer garden minging !!! Also a dining area and kiddies play area. As we all know kiddies donât tidy up after themselves, and we wouldnât expect them too whilst they are busy having fun. You arrived after a very busy day...our naughty staff should have ignored our customers inside so they could run around and clean up after every child who dropped litter.....we do our best to keep the garden tidy throughout the day ...it gets a good clean at the end of the day. This by the way was the reason the staff didnât see you enter with the dog as they were so busy. When you approached the bar for your drinks you werenât asked to leave but you were informed that dogs werenât allowed, but the staff politely served you anyway and you stated that you fully understood....you didnât âdrink up fastâ I am not a dog hater as I have 3 myself, however not everyone is a dog lover, not everyone is happy to eat or drink when dogs are around. Some people are nervous of dogs. We keep the gates locked to make if safe for children so the canât wander onto a busy road.Visitors to this site can read all the other reviews which paint a truer picture of The Great Mogul, I think this review was made out of spite as you were angry that your pooch wasnât welcome. You say you wonât visit us again, thatâs fine, but your child will be the one who misses by not out playing in our fabulous play area.

Small plates - Gluten free - Seafood - Speciality meats - vegetarian - wines by the glass - craft beers - cocktails - family run - owner managed
My husband and I have been here quite regularly since we moved around the corner. Every time the staff have been lovely and very attentive. We have been here for just drinks and and for food. The cauliflower is possibly the best dish I have ever had, gives Maray on Bold Street a run for it's money! The roast dinners are something special too. Must go on one of the nights they have live music next!

On walking through the door we expected a member of staff to greet us, so we stood there for a while and no one came, a customer said to just sit down so we did. A while later a waitress came over to us asking if we would like drinks, I asked for Atlantic beer to be told they did not have any, then a while later we started to give our order for food again I was told they did not have sirloin steak. I did not time the wait for the food but it did seem to take a while.Ann the waitress was fantastic and she was working on her own running around like a headless chicken, the place was very under staffed. We did complain and two managers came over to explain why they had problems. The gents toilet was fully functional and clean. This would not be on our list of places to come back to.

The Edge at Joey Orr's is a new edition to a long established family run pub. Chef will prepare and cook the delicious high end food in front of you while you enjoy the great atmosphere. Everything is homemade, right down the thick cut chips and peppercor
Fajita were perfect and really tasty. I asked for no grease or oil and was cooked to perfection. Very warm welcome and it was noticeable that staff enjoyed their job and did all they could to make our visit a pleasant one. Would definitely recommend to others and go back myself.Thankyou for your lovely review we try our best to make your visit as pleasant and as enjoyable as possible. Hope to see you both again very soon.Kind RegardsNichola (front of house)
