This area is sadly lacking in decent restaurants so when this pub re-opened after being renovated, we were happy to give them a whirl. We've visited several times since and mostly been impressed with the food quality and preparation. But the pub has recently changed hands again and when we went last week, we thought the standard had dropped slightly. I had one of the day's specials which was rabbit stroganoff pie. I was looking forward to it as I hadn't had rabbit in a long time. It was tasty enough but the sauce had a very strong herbal flavour I couldn't identify, so the delicate flavour of the rabbit was totally lost. It might have been chicken for all I could tell.We don't usually eat dessert but my husband is a huge fan of Key Lime Pie so when he saw it on the menu (a recent addition), he couldn't resist but was deeply disappointed. For what was served was not Key Lime Pie at all, but a simple cheesecake, not even lime flavoured. It was nice, but it wasn't KLP. The passionfruit sauce was just some sort of sweet syrup, didn't look or taste like passionfruit at all and was superfluous to the dish. We'll give them another go in the hope it was just the chef's night off.

Historic country hotel. Named after a local roustabout, Sam Knott, who became the face of advertising for Carlton & United breweries with the poster seen in nearly every Aussie pub with the catch phrase - "I allus has wan at eleven" Lots of history in the
The food was good, and the staff friendly until 8 pm. While we were still eating chairs were lifted onto tables ready for the end of day cleaning...a very obvious push for us to hurry up and leave. It was 8.10pm! I can understand closing the kitchen at 8pm for main meals, but am unsure how patrons are expected to order a meal, be served a meal and enjoy it in an hour! We didn't even get to have dessert or coffee.

Located on the highway you could easily drive past without noticing.Old architectural character has been maintained inside which is a pleasant .Now the food! We had a party of a dozen and the food came out at the same time and no one was disappointed.Drinks a bit pricy but food prices reasonable.Well worth a visit.

It's those extra details that can make a meal feel memorable or disappointing: Consistency, attention to detail, customer service and follow up, timing, etc., etc., etc.Our lunch could have been spectacular, but it was the smallest of things that affected that. It was a perfect Autumnal day, so we chose to sit outside on the balcony. We walked past dining tables set up with pristine white linen table cloths and elegant chairs, through double doors to an area that befitted a Cafe: stark laminated table tops and metal chairs! My chair was warped and for the entire time I rocked back and forth in a diagonal movement. The waitress was pleasant and not too forward (good) and the menus were brought out. We started with drinks from a not too extensive list of champagnes and wines, and whilst we were waiting for the drinks, chose our meals. Entrees were Haloumi chips and dips for two.The haloumi wasn't overly hot and with six pieces (see photo), by the time we got to the last two, they were room temperature. Nevertheless they were tasty. The dips and oil/balsamic vinegar was nice, although the balsamic vinegar had settled on the bottom and we couldn't even get the bread to soak it up, so it was wasted. For mains we ordered the Kangaroo and Snapper. The menu recommended that the kangaroo be served medium rare. I wasn't asked how I wanted it cooked (I would normally eat my meat rare to blue) so I left it in then hands of the chef. We also ordered asides of roasted chats and green beans with almond slivers. The Kangaroo was medium at best, leaning towards well done. There were only six pieces on my plate, with vegetables taking up 2/3rds of the plate (see photo). The meat was tough and two of the six pieces couldn't be eaten. The vegetables were lovely, but the here of the meal was meant to be the kangaroo! The snapper on the other hand was well cooked and seasoned. We ordered coffees and shared a dessert (ice cream). The ice cream was lovely (dark chocolate, salted caramel and vanilla bean - three scoops). The long black coffee looked like it had come from a drip filter machine. No crema. When we paid, there was no "How was your meal?" or "Was everything to your satisfaction?" so there was no feedback.Given the meal overall (with two champagnes and two Shirazes) was over $200,it was disappointing that those little things - the consistency of decor, the asking about the liking of the meat, the temperature of the haloumi, being able to access the balsamic and the coffee, and more importantly, asking for feedback, dragged down the overall experience.

Our family had an enjoyable meal at the RSL. They catered very well for kids with a meal deal and activity set. Our food was very good and tasty. Would definitely visit again if travelling through the area.

This cafe is the best in the valley - best coffee, healthy food, great service and comfortable environment. It consistently delivers the best coffee in the Warburton valley. The food is healthy and yet delectable! The chalkboard specials are often varied and use the best local produce. The pies are often the best choice with a great salad. Gluten and other allergies are exceptionally well catered for - most of the menu is often gluten free! Emily owns and runs it reflecting her professionalism and experience in the industry. She has maintained the origins and style that Amanda started. The consistently friendly, smiling and happy staff are a joy to deal with. They also look after locals very well.

We came in and the service was great , arranging a large table for our 4 adults and 3 kids. The staff handled our changing order without any hint of complaint. I had eggs Benny. For some reason this arrived without ham. When I was about to mention the problem, the waitress, pre-empted me, saying she knew what my problem was and returned with a real McCoy version that I considered excellent. The milkshakes were very tasty and large. The quiches were very good. The homemade sausage roll was tasty , but a bit too dry on the outside.Thank you Robert. We are pleased you enjoyed your dining experience with us and that the problem with your meal was handled quickly and to your liking.

As locals we have always had wonderful service. We invited friends from Melbourne for lunch and were left utterly embarrassed by todayâs rude and inhospitable service.Upon ordering our friends were told there was an hour and a half wait for their meal. When they queried the time frame the staff became quite inhospitable and made an scene in front of other patrons. The cook and another staff member then made a point of bringing out their meals slamming the meals on the table stating âthat it was due to their rudeness that they got their meal quicklyâ and also âthat they were lucky to not have it tipped in their facesâ Needless to say we were horrified. The staff involved were then overheard complaining to other patrons about our table. As locals who had recommended Cunninghams we were utterly horrified and embarrassed. So much for Yarra Valley hospitality. We will think twice about coming back and certainly will be sharing this experience with others.

Searching on my computer, found a Winery Experience for four people being advertised by Scoopon.Called Gourmet Yarra Valley Winery Experience for four people valued at $130, being offered for $65 in total for all four including a generous glass of wine each of your own choosing.Venue being Wild Cattle Creek Estate at Seville in the Yarra Valley. On arrival, we were offered various wines to taste and to choose which one you would like during your meal. For $65, you can choose either the cheese, antipasto or desert board.Being four people, you are entitled to one of the large boards, but the winery was kind enough to let us have two of the small boards. We chose the cheese and antipasto boards.Wonderful boards with plenty of choices on each. There is also a two person deal on offer for $33.Ren (Rhiannon) was a charming and knowledgeable hostess during our visit.Highly recommend visiting this lovely winery.
