Things to do in Rainbow Beach

I usually never write reviews but after my experience here I almost feel it is my duty to warn fellow travelers to steer clear of this place. According to Google the shop closed at 7pm and I had been warned by a local that take out places closed early in Rainbow Beach. So when I arrived at 7pm (I had only just arrived in town) I asked the lady behind the counter if they were still open. After glaring at me for some time like I was an imbecile she barked some gibberish at me which I had to ask her to repeat. She said 'ya walked in didn't ya?' as rude as can be. I then ordered 3 potato scallops and a piece of whiting (which was on the chalkboard menu). She looked at me like I'd insulted her dead grand mother and said 'what?'. I repeated it and she looked at me with with annoyed bemusement. I had to point to the menu and say 'whiting, it's on your menu'. She then grumbled 'that it?' rather rudely and walked off. Worst customer service I have experienced in a very long time. I left feeling rather angry and upset. Great welcome to town! The food was ok but not even close to being worth the effort of putting up with the shop owners awful attitude.

Amazing oysters. Server not sure where they came from. Miserable staff. Burger. Wow. You could place football with that meat patty.Probably the worst burger I have ever had. The service same. They have such a great venue. Burgers are so easy and yet.... a smile would work wonders. Not a place I would recommend for food. A drink yes but thatâs it.

Rainbow Beach Hotel is a beautiful two story refurbished Queenslander styled hotel. Boasting large outdoor verandahs with open dining areas around The Plantation Bar. A broad range of food is available from the bistro style menu with your classic pub meal
Avoid- most sterile boring hotel Iâve ever been too- I cannot remember going to anything as bad- unfriendly staff - overpriced foodToo much light, no atmosphere - wow these guys have got this all wrong - under the current stewardship it wonât last long and clearly whoever takes it on has a big job to do to get it right.

Open for dinner 7 nights a week from 5.30pm. Coffee, cakes & muffins from 8am daily.
If you're staying at Rainbow Beach Resort, then you really don't have much option than to eat in this restaurant. However, what it lacks in ambiance, it makes up for in the quality of the food and the good value. We had oysters to start with - delicious and so fresh. We both then had the Fisherman's Catch - a huge selection of tempura-battered fish, served with chips and salad - a real treat! The wine is a very reasonable price here, as is the food. We returned on our second evening for a snack - bruschetta and a bucket of tiger prawns! Also delicious. Do try this restaurant out - you'll not be disappointed! Thanks MObelf for your review of our restaurant Pavilions. A lof guests liken it to eating on the deck of a Queenslander - ir=t certainly is a relaxed dining area with its decking and tropical garden outlook.Glad you enjoyed the food.

The atmosphere was very relaxed and friendly and the meat tray raffle was in full swing when we ordered our seafood dinners. The food was as expected for the price, but not for the location. I thought it would have been fresher. However there was a bonus drink given with the meal order and this made things a little more pleasant. I'd take a look and sit for a moment before ordering if your're new to this place. I should have done this and maybe my expectations would have been better met.

Just wanted to write a review to encourage the folk at Cafe Jilarty. Weâve returned to Rainbow Beach 4 times over the last 6 years and recently spent 4 weeks there in 2 seperate blocks of 2 weeks. The town is packed on weekends and in holiday periods and honestly it is not as pleasant as when fewer vehicles and people are there. Weâve tried all the cafes and restaurants over the time but for coffee and breakfast we keep returning to Cafe Jilarty. Consistently the coffee is great and the food good. Specials for backpackers are cheap and other menu is excellent if a little pricey in places. However our experience is always good. Unfortunately we witnessed another example of âgrumpy grey nomadsâ rejecting a half-eaten breakfast and coffee, complaining even when Tina apologised and refunded the womanâs money, then continuing to complain until she also refunded the manâs completely eaten breakfast! If it was so bad, why finish it? Really some people give us older travellers a very bad name. Well done Tina for your patience and willingness to let the âcustomer always be rightâ even if they were not!!
