Things to do in Port Pirie
a lovely quiet well presented restaurant for that time for a break moment. The coffee and nibbles were enough for me but fuller options are available. The staff are so friendly and are accredit to the establishment The perfect place for just sitting back for that coffee and snack.

We ordered a variety of food from the menu. Roast chicken, schnitzel, dim dims, chicko rolls and chips. All of it was cooked on point, nothing under or over done. Chicken had great flavour. There was no excess of oil on the fried foods. Will definitely return here.

Iâve never been a fan of Primo restaurants and this one confirms why I avoid them. The food was adequate but hardly interesting or excitingly palatable. The carrots in the salad bar seems to be some strange orange ectoplasm of uncertain origin. The other vegetables were quite reasonable and were not cooked to a pulp. The wine prices were ridiculously expensive for wines by the glass as they were much the same as high quality restaurants in Adelaide. We also had to fight of the flies during the whole meal while trying to ignore the noise coming from a family whose three children were very overexcited and loud. As dining experiences go it was one to try to forget as quickly as possible.
Now and again when we feel like afternoon or moring tea, my daughter calls around to this shop as their cakes are flavousome and delicious.

Not often in Port Pirie but while shopping in the main street we decided to call in for a drink on a warm day.Beyond the nice cafe adjacent the street is a bar and dining facility that well and truly has the wow factor. A great wine range and craft beers plus their own brand - try one - you won't be disappointed. Extensive and innovative menu.Huge outdoor undercover pizza oven area is the icing on the cake. But there is more! Great staff for whom nothing is too much trouble and who are knowledgable and eager to make your experience unforgettable. We were so moved by this place we booked for dinner that night - we weren't disappointed and you won't be either. We also called in for a long and lazy breakfast the next morning - same standard.Oh. Last but not least - a great and tasteful renovation by the owner of what was a tired and shabby old building past its use by date. Well done!!

The staff were very friendly, neat and tidy and the business was quite clean and well presented. The building itself actually used to be an old church from many years ago and has a lot of history. We ordered the crew pack for 4 and it definitely provided enough food to feed 4 people. We chose battered fish but it was a little oily and the chips were a little soggy but still quite nice. The prawns and calamari that came with the pack were satisfactory and the spring rolls were average. The salad was fresh and tasted quite good and there was a reasonable selection of salad to choose from. There is plenty of room to dine in and there is a large television inside so if your favorite footy game or cricket match is on you can ask the staff to put it on the channel you would like to watch. There is wheel chair access to the building and if you like there is an upstairs dining area that overlooks the ground floor.

While in Port Pirie my family was feeling a little hungry around lunchtime and I decided to get a feed. Walked into Happy Birds and saw a "family" deal. It was a takeaway since the business didn't have any tables and chairs to sit at. I should have paid more attention but the family deal had a full chicken, a fair sized bag of chips and a small salad for around $25.00. (I think that's what the price was from memory, I hope I am not wrong.) The staff were not what I would say outgoing or very talkative but to some people this may seem rude but to me it looked like they took their work very seriously. (Plus they were reasonably busy.) Since the beach was only 2 minutes away we ate there. The chicken was nice, the salad was average but the chips were delicious. So if you like the typical barbecue type chicken meal I would recommend grabbing a bite here. If you're going to eat at the beach like we did make sure you have some serviettes and some spoons or ask them for some while your ordering. (We forgot to ask but lucky we has some KFC spoons and napkins in the car!)

OMG... what a great night. The food was amazing, for over 50 people, food was brought out within 10 minutes from first to last. Hot food, great tasting, presented beautifully, fantastic. Top job from kitchen staff and waitresses. Thank you.

The food here is excellent, and reasonably priced, 2 meals with a bottle of nice wine cost around $70. I ordered steak medium rare and that is exactly how it came.

Although a last minute decision the Flinders Motel on Main was surprisingly good. The rooms have been recently refurbished and are bright and clean with new carpet, leather-style tub chairs and white linen with the brightly coloured accent throws you find in more expensive accommodation. Complimentary tea/cofee and Arnotts biscuits. Room size quite large with new moderately sized bathroom. Was cheaper than the older John Pirie Motor Inn just across the road.
