My friend and I go here for lunch and always share the Triple Decker Sandwich and fries. They are very obliging and bring it out on separate plates. The coffee is always hot and to my liking. The place is busy but everything runs very smoothly.

Galley Café, Western Port Marina, Hastings, VictoriaIt was our w/e in the Mornington Peninsular â weâd stayed in a rustic little ex-settler style cottage on the way to Crib Point â and, following an interesting couple of hours late morning/early afternoon in the Victorian Marine Centre nearby, it was time to head north; we were looking for a convenient snack/lunch option â somewhere comfortable with a view. Follow the coast of Western Port Bay north with French Island across the water on your right and, little more than 5 km later, youâll come to Hastings. Take the first turning to the right and follow the houses round to the glamorous-looking Western Port Marina. Definitely yacht country â rows of exotic modern barges with a handful of classics from earlier times â lined up in their moorings and devoid of people; with masts and rigging scissoring back and forth one-to-the-other under the impact of the sheltered waves. In the channel at the end of the jetties and next to the seawall there were sports fishing boats, cabin cruisers and the occasional yacht heading into or out of the entrance to the marina. This is the view that you get from the aptly named âGalley Caféâ. Where we sat you couldnât quite see round to the entrance â just the boats passing.Weâd assumed that there would be a café quay-side â hemmed in by the kinds of shops and services that help keep the boaties afloat â and had wondered about stopping off at the large restaurant/café that weâd seen to our right as we entered the elegant reserve/parking area adjacent to the marina. That said, we eventually parked in the shade of a mature tree over by the service shops and walked to the Galley Café. âKitchenâs closedâ, said the woman behind the counter â as we stood to one side exploring the attractive-looking list of sandwiches described on the board above her â and before weâd asked.Hmmm. âDoes that mean there are no sandwiches?â It did. âNothing in the display counters?â.âNopeâ.It was around 2.45 pm. âSandwiches are made to demandâ(A hard little message then â delivered with just that hint of brusqueness: âtake it or leave itâ â no friendly/half-apologetic smiles). So â¦. it meant moving elsewhere, eating nothing or (easiest choice) selecting a couple of sugary/sweet cakes. We ordered â carrot cake, apple cake (when weâd much rather have had salad/ham, salad/cheese on brown, etc.) & two milk shakes. We paid A$22. Cakes were OK â for cakes; milk shakes were good â large and full of flavour â chocolate & lime. Food and drinks followed us out, and so did closure for the day - clearing up the tables and piling the chairs. âWeâre getting ready to closeâ, said the girl. âThereâs few people aboutâ. She hovered near our table, clearing it before weâd finished our milkshakes. Great place to watch the world go by â not that there was much moving in the marina â but comfortable and easy. The café (and particularly the delightful location) rates âgoodâ, but this category isnât available. So, it becomes âaverageâ.Peter Steele06 February 2018

A group of 4 of us just wandered into this venue on Sunday morning and found the place lovely and welcoming. We all ordered Breakfast and Coffees and were impressed with what we were served. Would recommend!

We'd read a couple of negative reviews, but a quick scope from across the road drew us over. Lovely local atmosphere, staff who couldn't have been more charming and helpful, great cafe menu, REALLY fresh and tasty food and well priced. We ran late for our job because we didn't want to leave the outdoor table, in the sun, in SERENITY!!! You can't expect any more .THANX!

Always like to give a venue thatâs making an effort to cater for coeliacs a chance so it stings when they hit you with an unexpected, unadvertised coeliac tax at the end and that $17.50 burger which sounded over priced becomes $20. There are much better GF buns around these days or this one was stale. I had the porkacho and I think the beef burger was good but the added pulled pork was dry n the whole thing was smothered in smashed avocado n sour cream overwhelming any other flavours. Definitely not worth $20, I could have got a better lunch for same price with water views at Pelican Societe at the other end of High St.

Incredible food & even better service! Everyone at PJs are so helpful & friendly and the food is always tasty, filling and beautifully presented (breakfast & lunch/dinner). Location is great with lots of table options (outside with a view of the park & water, inside in a variety of table options or at the comfy leather couches). Coffee is fantastic and lots of good slices & cakes to tempt you. Finally, if youâre going with kids, itâs a breeze... plenty of space for a whole Motherâs Group worth of prams, clean & roomy bathroom with change table etc, highchairs, toys for the kids & even kiddy sized cutlery (my daughter had âFrozenâ ones tonight!). Seriously - who does that?! I love it. Also very understanding of dietary issues such as coeliac disease (my child is coeliac & they cater for her easily) - nothing is too tricky for them & they make you feel welcome regardless of any special needs. Do yourselves a favor & visit soon! Youâll go back for sure, just as we regularly do.

Iconic venue for dining and entertainment, located in the historical port town of Hastings on the Mornington Peninsula.
The only good thing about our last dinning experience was the kids always have fun in the children's play area..... As we have eaten there many time before as a group of 12 and as couples , the menu is tired and boring and has not changed in a long time ,the fried fish and kids nuggets were over cooked, the parma [ which are the same as in the main bar and 10 dollars cheaper out there.] was small and just edible.. The so called Thai beef salad was terrible, nothing in it to think it was a Thai beef salad, [as our party had 3 Thai's in it,] the beef had been cooked in some sort of sweet sauce and the rest poured over it , it was sent back as terrible and we received no sorry or explanation, We pay good money for there food ,just not good enough .. as locals who would eat there at least 20 to 30 times a year.. We will not be back, there is 3 other hotel/ club in town..

A nice and comfortable place with some sea and marina views. Really great friendly and helpful staff. The seniors roast was the biggest I have seen with plenty of roast meat and vegetables, great value. The seafood chowder was very good, not the most chowdery I have had but still good and no shortage of seafood which made up for it, great serve with a crunchy bun, very happy.

What a great setting for lunch. I had the folded egg which turned out to be an omelette. Still it was very good. The coffee was great too.the only thing I wasn't impressed with was being charged extra when my husband and I decided to share a lunch dish!Thank you for your feedback and we glad you enjoyed your dining experience with us. However it definitely is not our policy to charge extra for sharing a meal. If you could please provide me with details of your lunch dish and a copy of your receipt I will have a look at what you have been charged for. You may call me on 59098132 or email [email protected] (Attention: Toula) Many thanks

My husband, three children and I stayed at the French Island General Store Cottage. It was well equipped with everything we needed. We especially loved the fire pit outside. The food served at the general store was amazing and the owners went out of their way to ensure we were well looked after. The wine from the French Island Vineyard was very nice too. A very much needed quiet break from Melbourne.
