Bangor Vineyard Shed is a unique wine and food experience. The cellar door for Bangor's Wines, The Shed sits beside the vineyard and overlooks beautiful Blackman Bay. Sit by the fire in winter or on the deck in summer. You will experience what Tasmania is
Visited for lunch today to celebrate two birthdays. So lucky to have this great place 3 minutes from our door. All wines are great but the Maria Rose and Abel Tasman pinot noir were perfect with oysters arancini quail abalone and lamb salad. Thanks to all the staff for a very enjoyable lunch. A must stop over if you are going through Dunalley or looking for somewhere to go for a memorable meal and venue.

Do first impressions count?... In my mind they do !!...The Hotel industry and hospitality industry in my mind go hand in hand. Inextricably tied together, ideally, in the pursuit of good food, good accommodation, and great hospitality.Entering through the Lufra Hotel Reception area we made our way to the Restaurant. On reaching the entrance we observed a large sign informing us that without a booking, we needed to return to reception to inquire whether there are any vacancies for dinner. We then waited as two guests were checked in to the Hotel......Hmmmn, not exactly the welcome we were expecting. The chap at the front desk inquired whether we were house guests when we explained that we here for a meal only, he said that he would need to check with the staff in the restaurant. So back we go to square one as he checks the booking sheet, after conferring with restaurant staff we finally gained admittance. Phew!!. What a crazy convoluted process. No welcome mat,or welcome sign here, just a lot of hoops to jump through. On being seated we were each handed a clipboard with the menu attached, a different idea granted, but that was where its uniqueness ended. The clipboard was old and jaded, and the menu printed out on A4 paper was crinkled and grubby. However to its credit, the Restaurant does have amazing views, overlooking Pirates Bay and beyond, it is an absolute delight to sit and take in this wonderful outlook. We started with a shared plate of oysters, half natural and half kilpatrick, While small in size the oysters were fresh and juicy with that wonderful aftertaste of the sea. Our mains were Fish of The Day,( Sea Trumpeter), chips and salad, and a green risotto infused with white wine and cheese. Both meals were well received however a long wait occurred between the two courses. Overall the meal was good, but the Restaurant fell down in a few critical areas. I am a firm believer in the ''KISS'' principle keep it simple stu--d.... welcome potential guests, don't discourage them. Replace the current menus with new attractive ones. Kitchen procedures need sorting,on the night of our visit it was not overly busy, but having to wait almost forty minutes between courses was unacceptable. The Restaurant itself is looking very tired, and in dire need of a makeover, a repaint in modern colours, replacing the outdated, carpet, furniture and lighting would do wonders in restoring some pride and pizzazz.

There's only 2 places you can get pizza on the peninsula. This pizza fits the bill when I don't want to make my own. Prices are reasonable and service pleasant.
