On a real slow night in Cooktown, the Bowlo thankfully had an open kitchen ! It was the fourth place we visited , the previous all closed or no chefs? We had a really nice meal, VG in my notes !! Nothing spectacular but the one man chef worked his buns off prepping & preparing every meal ! It was tiring watching him work but he did a great job, no complaints from Moi !

Dropped in for a quick bite of Prawns and was not disappointed - they were exceptional - obviously straight from a Trawler and oh so delicious.

A quality true Aussie pub with character. Largish menu with good variety, and better than the average pub food - we went back again after the first night for another feed the next. Prices reasonable from mid teens main course upwards
Out of busy restaurants and into the food truck life... Heath and Kimberley are living the dream. Formerly cooking at the Cooktown Bowls Club, they are now serving fast, fresh takeaway food to the hungry folks of Cooktown from their custom built food trai
Stopped in Cooktown for lunch and found this little gem. We had a Cheeseburger and a Lamb Kebab, both super delicious. Juicy, full of flavors, good quality meat and big portions. Combined with absolutely fair prices, this is a must stop in Cooktown!

Friendly customer service on an idealistic location alongside the sea. They also have Groper feeding at set times, just refer to the sign upon entry to see when.SERVICEOld fashioned customer serviceFOODGrilled fish was tasty, although a small serve for my gluten intolerant daughter. The hambuger was delicious. The crumbed fish and battered chips was just right and of a reasonable size.DRINKSThe strawberry and chocolate thickshakes were excellent.ATMOSHEREWe sat in the garden area which was lovely.

We stayed onsite at the Sovereign Resort Hotel and dined in the Balcony Restaurant on our first night. We both ordered seafood platters and it was a bit of a mixed bag ..... for instance, the prawns & scallops were perfect, the fish was ok, the calamari was tough and the chips were slightly undercooked and lack-lustre. Overall, the meal was a pass but just a tad disappointing for reasons mentioned. We would give it another try though.

Work booked me in at the River of Gold motel and 2 colleagues and I met up for dinner there last night. I started with deconstructed bruschetta and then for a main had coral trout with an amazing caper berry sauce and vegetables. I was blown away by the quality of the food, the presentation and the variety in the vegetables. The fish was on a bed of delicious potato mash and the vegetables included Brussel sprouts, baby squash, beans, carrots, broccoli and so much more. The only disappointing thing was that I couldnât finish it as there was so much there. The best meal I have ever had in Cooktown and I have been coming here for 30 years! Will be back!

Visiting Cooktown for a few days had us going to the RSL for dinner. The Tuesday night specials were great value, the meals very delicious and well sized and then a courtesy bus took us back to our accommodation. What more could you ask for. Absolutely excellent service. Thank you

I have eaten here a few times on my recent trips to Cooktown and the food has always been excellent and great value. Speed of service is a bit hit and miss but on the whole is very good.

Two best friends cooking from their heart with love, putting their souls onto the plate. We cook what we love to eat. We try & use local and seasonal ingredients where possible & therefore we don't have a "fixed menu". Nevertheless we guarantee great brea
Friendly staff, nice coffee with discount for keep cup & damn good chocolate & walnut brownie. Great to be seated outside on balcony with view & breeze. Very tidy toilets. Thoroughly recommend as all food on display & being served, was being devoured.
