Over the last three months we have eaten at the Red Kangaroo Road House just west of Beaufort, several times. The menu is what you would expect at a Roadhouse / truck stop. What is possibly not expected is the quality of the food. Having eaten a several Roadhouses over the years this is one of the better ones. We have not had a bad meal in this time. The food is prepared very quickly and is always tasty. Coffee is good ( from the machine - not make your own ) We have found the restaurant to be clean and the staff friendly. If you can not find something in Beaufort keep going west - about 2 k's out of town on the right hand side and give the Red Roo as it is locally known as a try.

The Golden Age in Beaufort does a great Sunday lunch including a choice of roasts. Simple but delicious! They offer weeknight specials such as steak night, Parma and Pot, burger and beer. Good location and can be reached by train easily from Ballarat or Melbourne.

Stopped here for a quick bite to eat and coffee as we were passing through. Was very busy and the lady behind the counter served us quickly and the food and coffee was very nice. Lots of locals calling in here so must be good to retain the locals.
Had lunch at Magnolias today. Lovely ambience and comfortable seating. Interesting menu. Frittata, salad & chips great. Coffee good. Priced right. Service inexperienced but trying hard. Pleasant place for a relaxing meal but too slow for lunch on the road.

We had afternoon tea here and experienced great service and delicious coffee. The iced coffee was divine and we had a couple of slices which were scrumptious. Next time we are passing through Beaufort we are definitely going to time it so that we can indulge in their lunch menu.

This was our 8am breakfast stop on our drive from Melbourne to Goolwa. We had sourdough toast with poached egg and bacon on avocado and scrambled egg on sourdough toast with mushrooms and tomato. Both breakfasts were delicious. Good coffees followed. The owner of the cafe is very friendly and welcoming.
