The Avoca looks inviting from the outside and delivers that promise inside, complete with wood fires in winter. We dined here two evenings in a row and were highly impressed and satisfied on both occasions. It's just a matter of taking a seat at comfortable table and they take over with a most relaxing style of hospitality. We started with cold beer, or two, from the pleasing range they have on tap, then moved to excellent local Pyrenees reds from a well compiled wine list. The food is delicious and servings are generous. Dishes are obviously prepared by a caring chef and we think there is something for everyone on the menu. Prices are very reasonable and staff are happy, efficient and mighty friendly. A great spot to spend over a long, enjoyable dinner. It is a good idea to make reservations; it's a popular place.

Had breaky here this morning. Such a delight. Folks in Avoca are so friendly. Lovely eggs bennie with yellow farm fresh eggs. .and pancakes traditional. .fantastic service and lovely yummiez to take home. A total must do in Avoca. Luckily we walked passed 3 cafes to find this cafe..looked like a secondhand shop selling high price furniture etc!then we spotted food.it looked inviting without the smell of burnt oil from cooking fish and chips.to say the meal was fantastic is an understatement.the best homemade quiche was to die for. I asked for a salad sandwich which wasnât on the menu?Not an issue....out it came...fantastic..The coffee was as good as any melbourne coffee shop and better than most .. drive out of your way to get the best food for 50 Klms. You wonât be disappointed

We found this place by accident two years ago one Sunday whilst travelling from Hamilton to Bendigo. It was so good that to-day, travelling from Horsham to Ballarat, we made a 45km detour to Avoca to visit Pyrenees Pie Shop once again. We were not disappointed. The coffee was great too. The staff were bright and cheery and worked hard at a busy time of the day. The place was clean and the prices were OK. Our only regret is that we didn't but some cold pies to take with us and freeze. Oh well - hindsight is 20/20.

We broke a long trip with a coffee stop at this cafe and couldn't resist the slices. We sat outside in a Mediterranean style courtyard where we found a pistachio tree in bloom. The waitress was friendly and pleasant. I'd definitely drop in there again.
