Went today for lunch as a couple â so good! One very mild (citrus broth Yuzu Shio sea salt ramen ($11.90) combo ($16.90) with Kakiage Don extra in the form of rice bowl and fried veggie- oniony-savory pancake (delicious) and absolutely powerful Spicy Miso Ramen (oh-so-good) with complex broth and just enough spice to enjoy the bottomless bowl of soup with al-dente noodles and spikes of fermented bamboo and seaweed. Perfectly intact (not chipped) ceramic bowls are literally bottomless with ramen â had to ask for doggie bowls, which was delivered nice and fast (thank you). The liquid yolk egg in Spicy Miso Ramen would greatly benefit the dish (the egg was hard-boiled), but otherwise it was a five stars meal. The kitchen-table harmony (Washoku) is all there with fast and neat service, plate presentation, food quality and the cozy-well-designed-beautiful interior. The musical baritone guy accord echoing the âarigatoâ of the cooking/serving team while entering and leaving is a blast - leaving you happy and smiling for the day. Simply great!

Unlikely location for a fine restaurant but right across from bus and subway station. Area seems run down, but this place is lovely inside and elegant. Inviting. Fabulous food. Oddly they only gave a fork to eat. No knife. Service could be better. An annoying guest was very loud. Too bad. Not the restaurants fault, but perhaps they could ask her to keep it down. Key thing....food superb.

A taste of Japan situated in a laid-back hideaway by Place d'Armes Square, Kyo Bar Japonais is a favourite among hungry, Old Montreal diners. Its menu boasts colourful izakaya creations, lunchtime bento box specials, smart sushi options and, with over 25
My husband took me here for my birthday dinner. Everything was superb. The ambiance was great. The service was excellent. The food was outstandingâwe had edamame with sea salt, miso soup, seaweed salad, sashimi and a roll. Everything was very fresh and top quality. We also had an excellent Rioja that was spectacular for the price. They brought a complementary desert for my birthday which was special. We will be back every time we are in Montreal.

Love the vibe, I felt like I was back in Ming China dynasty. Very loud but the food is delicious. Try the Tuna tataki salad and the tempeh skewers

My first time here; I sat at the bar, wanted to have a fast supper before seeing a movie. I ordered three tapas, the marinated tuna, wasabi squid and code fish, all delicious. The staff super friendly. Valerie served me at the bar, great service and advised me what to have, thanks a lot! She even told me to try the green tea cheesecake, yummy! This place is very busy, better to have reservations.

We are a family owned authentic Thai restaurant that's been around the early 1990s. We take pride in our great authentic cuisine, friendly service and the fact that our customers love to come back and try new dishes
We originally had a booking but weâre massively delayed getting in from Toronto. Iâd called en-route to try to change the booking to the following day but this, unfortunately, was when they were due to close for the week. Not sure what time we would arrive, we declined the offer to move to a later slot and cancelled the booking. Once we had arrived at our apartment and ditched our bags, it was gone 9pm. Aware that the restaurant closed at 10pm and determined to take our only chance to eat here, we hurried to the restaurant and were very pleased when they rearranged some tables and fitted us in. The food itself was pretty good. Given the lack of time, we forwent the starters and headed straight for mains; a couple of pad Thais, a red curry, a soup and, for me, a peanut and coconut chicken Penang curry, all washed down with a couple of cold beers. It was a good end to a hectic day and weâre very grateful to the team there for their hospitality.

The sake is good. The appetite, too. The curry rice bowl is not impressing, not cheap either. As I said before, when selecting a restaurant from a foreign country one should be careful because now there are lots of Japanese, Chinese, Korean and Indian restaurants on saint Catherine, among which many are only providing good by family members. The geniun ones always have professional cooks whom are well paid, so they make good food to attract dinners always.
