Excellent dishes, spiced to your desired heat level. The Fresh Spring Roll was tasty, full of flavors and a perfect beginning. The Chicken Pra Ramwas crispy and succulent, with a refined peanut sauce. My Penang Red Curry with beef high the right spot , even is it did seem light on the beef. A very satisfying meal.

Stopped by for the first time and had a lunch special, the kung po beef. Large serving, good, but too many green peppers and the beef wasn't the best quality. It's a fancy Chinese restaurant with a big menu that has other Asian items as well, but it's pretty generic. Prices are higher than average, maybe because it's in Wells. Normally I order a mai tai or fog cutter but didn't want to pay almost $10 for low-shelf liquor. And, no fortune cookie at the end! Odd.

I had not been to Maple Leaves in probably fifteen or twenty years, but I was reminded why. Our server had minimal communication skills in English. For most of us that was OK, but for the one of our group with questions, it did not make it easy. Three of us ordered soup, and we ordered four entrees and fried rice as well. About two minutes after the soup arrived, the entrees arrived -- needless to say, three of us were still eating the soup. The egg drop soup was good, but the wonton soup had two very large pieces of pork on top. They were too big to eat, and impossible to cut --- try using a knife inside a cup of soup! Of the entrees, the moo goo gai pan was OK as was the sesame chicken. Both were very forgettable. Orange beef was better, and shrimp in lobster sauce was somewhat different than I have seen in the past, but it was good -- enough large shrimp in an interesting base. The fried rice was average. Getting our bill too an inordinate amount of time, and our server, who was the only server there but only had three tables, never came back to pick up the check and credit cards. I ultimately walked the check up to the counter, told them to split it among the cards, and it still took a good five minutes to get it back to sign.
