While visiting Binghamton University, we joined together with another family to go to dinner on a Saturday night. We were a party of twelve and knew it might be difficult to find a restaurant that could accommodate us. On a recommendation we stopped at Nhuy, a Vietnamese restaurant. It is a very small place that said they could accommodate us at two tables; one for eight people and one for four people. Since it was already after 7 pm, we agreed. The server (owner?) started taking meal orders at the large table and informed them that the kitchen was out of vermicelli rice noodles (which covered a whole page of the menu) and chicken (which covered 25% of the remaining dishes). After taking their orders he indicated that he would be right over to our table. Turned out he didn't take our orders until he had already delivered appetizers to the first table. He then got to our table and suddenly had rice noodles and chicken to offer us. I ordered a noodle and chicken dish and my wife and daughter ordered noodle and shrimp dishes. When the meals came out, my wife and daughter were brought pork dishes. They absolutely do not eat pork. Their meals had to be redone. At the large table seven of the eight people got served but they forgot the meal for one of my grandsons. They quickly corrected that and got a meal out to him. To the server's credit, he explained that they were short one cook and he kept apologizing for the slow service. Also, to his credit, he removed my grandson's meal from the check to make amends for forgetting to serve him. As for the food itself, I can only comment on the four meals at my table. My wife said her shrimp with noodles had no taste. It was bland. My son in law had rice with shrimp and I thought the portion was much too small to call it a meal. My chicken with noodles would have been okay except that the whole thing was cold. I discovered later that it is supposed to be served that way. I really was expecting a hot dish. Finally, when the check came, there were separate checks for each table, even though we clearly told them we were a party of twelve. So many mistakes and issues made this a very stressful meal. I will probably not return.

The mixed reviews had us concerned but we decided the roll the dice since the newest reviews were more positive. We were very glad we did.The food was excellent and the service was very friendly. I have been fortunately enough to eat at some very good Korean restaurants in NYC and the flavor of the meals here is on par.The price might be a little more than expected but you do get a considerable amount of food when you consider the soup and "free" small bowls. We are only in town for one night but would not hesitate to go back if we have the opportunity.
Stopped in for lunch on a Friday. At first blush, the place appeared too small for a restaurant, but the tables inside were not crowded together - there was ample space to move around. It is an "order & pay-at-the-counter" place (much like take out) and they bring the food to your table. My wife and I both had hibachi lunch specials and were pleased with them. I had the hibachi steak and she had the hibachi shrimp (I sampled some of hers). The food was fresh and hot (not the spicy kind), and not overly salty. You can taste the steak and shrimp. We WILL come back for more.

We went to Fuji San while staying at the Quality Inn because it was cold and damp outside and we just didn't feel like going back outside. You can get to the restaurant from the Hotel. We arrived and a young women came to seat us in a mostly empty restaurant. We said we wanted the Habachi seating, we were asked if we both were ordering Habachi, which we were, but I was given the impression that if only one of us was we wouldn't be allowed to sit there. They seated us at an empty table and within minutes moved us to another table in another room. there were 4 Habachi tables in each room that we were in. The table next to us had 3 people finishing their meal. We ordered and our chef came out and did a great job of cooking and interacting with us, even though it was just 2 of us at the table. He didi the typical tossing of the egg, onion volcano, and even offered the saki squirt in the mouth ( water for the child) The food was very tasty! I had the HIbachi Steak and my neice had the Habachi steak and shrimp. Our meal came with the miso soup, salad with way too much dressing, fried rice and veggies. Heres where the strange part comes in...We were enjoying our meal when 2 waitresses stood by us kind of staring at us, then one of them gave us take home containers and continued to watch us eat. Finally I looked at one of them and said, is there something I can help you with? She aske me how much longer we would be? I responded with were still eating and when we finish we will be done! we hadn't been eating all that long! then when she obviously didn't like my answer, another came up and asked if we would mind moving to a regular table. I did mind, but we moved. Apparently they had a party of 32 people who arrived shortly after they moved us! Why they sat us there when they knew they had a large party arriving and why did they move us in the first place? it kind of ruined the experience for us and I doubt I will ever go back.

As vegans, we were always leery of hibachi places -- but this place rocked! All the staff members knew exactly how to prepare a fun, delicious meal for our family. My daughter and other people we met at the table had food allergies that our chef was TOPS in accommodating with a smile. (Note: they have gluten free soy sauce -- no need to bring your own!) Was the stir fry the best I ever had? No -- but that's not why we went. We went for the Ooohs and the Aaaahs of the hibachi chef in an atmosphere that is conducive to sharing laughs with strangers at your table. The place is HUGE so it's pretty easy to get a seat without much hassle. We'll keep our good memories of Kampai for a long time.

We normally never complain or post reviews but we had to post this time!!!! Zero would be our rating. We have been to this place and liked it - not anymore!!!We we so disappointed!!!Restaurant dirty!!! We were there at restaurant âslow timeâ where you should see cleaning, etc. NOPE!!! We did see employees standing around conversing and not cleaning during this time.Tables dirty, floor dirty, buffet dirty, restrooms dirty!! Giving the appearance the benefit of the doubt we stayed and tried the food - should not have. Soggy food, cold food, buffet serving area dirty and sticky. Even the Ice Tea and Soda tasted awful!!Cannot post even one possitive about this place!!! My family along with her church family will be coming for a competition and they always go here - I informed NOT to go!!!
We came 1 time last year Very happy to see they're still here. The food is excellent. Prices are reasonable. This place is spotless. Everything that we experienced here we were pleased with. Several other people came in while we were here. From my observations and listening I could tell we were not alone our assessment. The food is also arranged in a appealing manner. It is easy to see the owners take pride in everything about their restaurant. We'll be back!

My husband and I went to the Kampai restaurant recently. We made a reservation for the Hibachi grill. Glad we did, as it is very popular. Our chef, Justin, was GREAT ! Very good at cooking and enjoyed talking with the customers and answering questions. It was fun having dinner with total strangers - because by the end of the meal, we found out we had a lot in common. The food was VERY good. Overall, we highly recommend this restaurant - nothing negative at all to comment on.

Other people have definitely discovered this place but it's still a hidden gem. Food is fresh, delicious and affordable, with pleasant atmosphere and good service. The only thing I would suggest is going just a little lighter on the sauces for the Hibachi and Kitchen Fusion dishes we had at our table, but still, they were delicious. I had the scallop Hibachi and the scallops were fresh, melt in your mouth, and more plentiful than many of the local restaurants. We will definitely be returning, and two at our table have been there before, returning frequently. This is a favorite spot for one of them, a discerning eater!
