This Thai restaurant just near the center of town serves quite authentic Thai food with the good blend of spicy, hot, sour flavors. The place is quite spacious and is decorated in Thai simple style. Price is reasonable and comparable to have local food at restaurant.

We had the lunch special with momos, both the meat and the vegetarian version were good. The restaurant is small but has a nice traditional atmosphere. The staff is very friendly. The price corresponds to a normal lunch special in Switzerland.

Located in a small street not far from center of the city, this is an authentic Japanese restaurant, with excellent tepaniaki food, sushi and sashimi and a nice atmosphere. Great and friendly Service. The Food is prepared in front of you from Japanese Cooks. We enjoyed the mixed seafood grill, salads and sake. The Food Price is high (no competition) but it is worth the money.

We tried all Thai restaurants in St. Gallen city and we must say, that this new Thai restaurant "Thai Star" is by far the best in town.There are only two other Thai restaurants close to this: "Thai Orchid" in Rapperswil (delicious and authentic) and "Blue Monkey" in Zurich (very pricey but the food is nicely prepared).Coming back from three weeks of vacation in Thailand, we were very curious to try "Thai Star".Saturday night, dinner time: We came in and received a warm welcome by the waitress Ratcha Thotham. She accompanied us to our table.The restaurant is small but very cosy: Water bubble pillars, black/gold wallpapers and the paper umbrellas gave it a special atmosphere.A look in the menu revealed that this restaurant is really one of the kind in St. Gallen:A decent variety of homemade cocktails (with and without alcohol) in fresh coconut or with fresh mango and ginger and the offering of "Thai Star Special drinks" were the perfect refreshments for the start.Food-wise this restaurant offers all the classic traditional Thai dishes (green, red, paneang curries, phad prew wan, phad grapau, phad Thai, fried rice and many, many more) we know.We wondered if the level of spiciness indicated on the menu are the same as in Thailand or adapted to a "Swiss level". But all came along very authentic.Very special about Thai Star is, that they offer all the Thai curries/dishes that we know with a decent variety of meat and seafood, e.g. beef, pork, chicken, shrimps or tofu and an additional unusual option was tuna!We ordered homemade spring rolls and papaya salad ("Som Tam") as starters. A very good choice: both were extremely tasty and freshly made as we know from Thailand.Main courses were Panaeng Curry with tuna (you HAVE to try this! It's so delicious!) and Phad Grapau (meat in sweet Thai basil sauce) with beef, and both dishes came along with a basket box of jasmine rice.As we started to eat our main courses, lots of people came in and gradually filled the restaurant.The waitress Ratcha was in charge of all of us and she did an excellent job the whole evening!We can truly recommend this restaurant if you want to experience authentic Thai cuisine.The only thing we could suggest is to add fresh Thai mango to the dessert list. And we would've appreciated to see the chef in order to express our enjoyment to him.Don' forget: Try a dish with tuna and order a fresh coconut juice: it comes along in a whole green coconut.

This neighborhood restaurant is hidden away on a side street, not too far from the main train station. If youâre lucky youâll find a parking space nearby, otherwise plan on driving around and having to walk a few minutes to get back.There is an outside terrace which must be quite pleasant on summer days, however at our visit it was already full, so we sat inside. Consider reserving a table if you want to eat outside. The decor is pretty average and our clothes smelled of fried food afterwards, so go for the food but not necessesarily a total dining experience.Most importantly, however, the food we had from the Friday all-you-can-eat lunch buffet (fairly priced at CHF 20.--) was delicious; freshly cooked and the serving dishes regularly refilled. There are both vegetarian and meat dishes to choose from. We would gladly return, either again for the buffet, or a regular lunch, which is comprised of set menus.

Finally, we got our own Tibits. Expats-we're not likely to get a Whole Foods in Switzerland, but this goes a long ways to addressing the deficit. It was a good idea to have a server lead people to a table, even though it's buffet style, because it gets crowded. That way no on will take your place while you're filling your plate up. I especially recommend the roasted pumpkin salad and the green bean salad, but everything I've tasted is good. Nice selection of drinks too. The desserts look lovely-some day I will splurge.Dear

Arrived just before 6:00 PM without reservation. We were the second guests. I ordered Saigon beer Export and selected stir-fried pork & chicken with fried rice(there is a choice of white rice). My wife ordered wanton soup and spring roll Vietnamese style. Both are taste good. The floor is managed by only one person, Madame, so we could not expect very good service. But it's OK. She works very hard and we did not have any inconvenience. At check, I was embarrassed a bit, because it does not accept credit cards.
