It's been a while since I visited Original Thai and I'd previously given them 5 stars so I was hoping they wouldn't let me down.To my amazement, they'd got even better! The food was just outstanding (try the "Jungle Curry!"), the atmosphere was authentic and the serving staff polite and knowlegeable. What more could you want? Hard to improve on perfection.Give them a try - I'll be using the takeaway service as well.

Our food tasted of cleaning products when we said to take it away they then claimed their food âtastes different to other placesâ. They refused to take any money off the bill even though the food was hardly touched! Very disappointed and wouldnât recommend to anyone!

St Ives is not short of Indian restaurants. At one time this was the best of the bunch. Bright decor, nice food and a buzzing atmosphere. Now, it does not appear to be doing quite so well. Only one other table was occupied when we visited on a Sunday evening. The same decor that at one time look progressive and inspirational is looking a bit tired. The wall next to us showed signs of curry stains and the coving in some areas has fallen off the wall. The menus look to be the original ones from when the place first opened and are literally falling apart. One shining light was the waiter, who was informative and very friendly. He deserves better.

We were staying in a hotel in the area over NYE and decided to order from this place as it's had such good reviews on a takeaway site. Couldn't be more disappointed - wrong dishes delivered, called up to complain with no apologies but hey did bring a new dish out - I'm a veggie, asked for paneer but my masala had a piece of chicken in there, lovely! Spend your money elsewhere.

Where to eat Indian food in St Ives: The Best Restaurants and Bars

Whilst the food is not too bad at Montaz, we experienced some very, very poor table service and overall care and attention. We ordered a range of dishes which included a tandoori mixed grill and chicken patia - the latter of which was okay but not brilliantly fragrant - but I definitely felt there was more quantity over quality. None of the dishes were overwhelmingly great truth be told. The mixed grill accompanying salad was comprised of unattractive dried lettuce which was off-putting.The service was very subpar and slow. Our meals took quite some time to arrive, the dishes werenât cleared away after we finished poppadoms to begin with, and our request for another mango chutney and dips tray was forgotten. When we did receive service, it didnât come with a smile, there was zero friendliness and it was passionless.Much prefer St Ivesâ other curry house, Zzohanna. I wonât be coming back to Montaz in a hurry.

What a wonderful find. The menu is exciting and the dishes offered are different and interesting with good descriptions to help you chose. The quantity and quality of the meat in the dishes is unsurpassed by any Indian restaurant I have previously visited, and I have been to dozens, Despite the thirty minute drive it will now be my go too Indian. The staff are friendly and helpful and the prices are very reasonable. The interior is smart and clean with a lovely ambiance. Can't wait for my next visit.

Been here forthe third time ,when visiting family in the area. The staff are very welcoming although it was pretty busy,, The food was as good as previous times weve been, Love the way they do the all you can eat service, have never come accross this before especially up north.

Over the last year, we have started going back to The Welcome again, after a not so good experience years ago, for family birthday celebrations. The all you can eat freshly prepared buffet menu has probably the widest selection of the Chinese restaurants in St Ives and is worth paying a bit more for. They offer the all you can eat menu on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings. The restaurant is closed on Mondays. It is an extremely popular restaurant so booking is highly recommended. The food is excellent - I particularly love all the starters. The spring rolls are outstanding. In fact, I could just keep ordering the starters!!! You can then have soup (big selection), duck with pancakes and then the main courses which are smaller portions than normal but by that time anyway you are full! You can order more of each course if you wish.Staff are pleasant and attentive and do a good job in such a busy restaurant, but sometimes it can feel like you are being a bit neglected if they know a number of regulars eating in there that evening. We went for my daughters birthday and I gave them a cake to bring out at the end of the meal. There were quite a few birthday celebrations in there that evening and I had to remind them about the cake at the end of the meal. They were apologetic but it felt like they were more interested in their friends birthday. The only disappointment we have experienced in there with the food was on our last visit, the starters were extremely salty and even the extra starters ordered after the first lot were equally as salty. Hopefully this is just a one off and it wonât put us off returning unless it happens again.Well worth a visit.

We have tried a few times to get a table here as it is very popular at weekends I whould recommend booking a week in advance ! We had a bit of a wait when we got there as it was rammed and they were trying to turn tables. They were very apologetic about it all and soon sorted are tables. We had starters excellent sweet potatoe cakes and stuffed sweet peppers. They have a great menu with some very different specials we both very good meals I had a lamb dish which was medium spiced and without any doubt the tenderest lamb curry I've ever had.my wife had a chicken dish which she said was delicious. Great rice and breads very fresh, hot fantastic Indian food 10 out of 10. Definitely going back.
