Find out what Asian restaurants to try in Shan State. Shan State (Burmese: ရှမ်းပြည်နယ်, pronounced [ʃáɴ pjìnɛ̀]; Shan: မိူင်းတႆး [mə́ŋ.táj]) is a state of Myanmar. Shan State borders China to the north, Laos to the east, and Thailand to the south, and five administrative divisions of Burma in the west. Largest of the 14 administrative divisions by land area, Shan State covers 155,800 km², almost a quarter of the total area of Burma. The state gets its name from the Shan people, one of several ethnic groups that inhabit the area. Shan State is largely rural, with only three cities of significant size: Lashio, Kengtung, and the capital, Taunggyi. Taunggyi is 150.7 km north east of the nation's capital Naypyitaw.

The Restaurant Owner Ma Zar, she used to work in Thailand for almost two decades and returned to Myanmar to open this small restaurant in Nyaung Shwe. With her 20 years of working experience and bubbly personality, she and her friendly young staffs never fail to give great service and food to their customers. If you are looking for lunch / dinner or a good place for dessert, don't miss it and try their Thai, Myanmar and Shan Cuisines and homemade Ice Cream in different flavors!

Totally loved everything about our experience eating at Sin Yaw. The service, food and atmosphere was fantastic. And the bathroom clean too. Sin Yaw specialises in local Shan-Style food cooked over a charcoal fire which gives the meat a beautiful smokey flavour. There are a range of dishes to suit local or foreign tastes but we chose the Shan traditional set meal platter with 8 different Shan foods (pictured). OMG so delicious! The pork and Inle Lake fish are both a specialty at Sin Yaw and just so good. The Shan tofu and accompanying vegetable sides are equally good. For drinks my partner had beer and I had a glass of white wine. Initially I didnât love the wine but when paired with the mildly spiced food it turned out to be the perfect match. The staff are very attentive and saw I perhaps was not fussed with the wine so immediately offered to give me an alternative drink. I decided to push on with the wine and so glad I did as it was the perfect food match as already stated and I was considering ordering a second glass but then I saw the lime & mint drink on the menu (a favourite) so went for that. Bliss. On arrival you are also given a wet cloth to wash your hands and insect repellent. A nice touch.

I took a tuk tuk here from Nyaungshwe town. I did not want to cycle. And it was well worth it. The place is beautiful with excellent views. Very nice juices/fresh drinks. The owners are very nice and welcoming. The food is excellent, tasty and large portions. It is super easy to find the vegan options. Just watch out that at the end they may bring out a banana dessert with honey, which isn't vegan. I didn't realise that would happen or I would have asked them not to make that for me. I am very glad I went there.

We had to walk a distance from the Red mountain winery all the way to this secluded restaurant which was highly ranked on TripAdvisor. The restaurant also has an area where it conducts cooking classes. We were the only guest for the night when we visited and the owner shared that we were the 3rd customers for the day. They had a welcome drink when we arrive, and we ordered two of the fish dishes, a vegetable and fried rice. Nothing to fault on the dishes, food was probably the best we tasted here. The cooking time was a little long though, where we waited close to an hour for our food, which were all served at the same time. There were lots of mosquitoes while we waited. A pity they do not sell desserts other than the local fruits. The owner was very nice, she helped my wife and I to book a taxi, that drove all the way from Nyuangshwe to send us back to our hotel at the Novotel and shared with us quite a number of stories and happenings around the area. Explaining how tourism has kinda fallen over the past few months particularly with new violence and fighting occurring at the border of the Shan state. This place is well recommended and definitely worth a visit.

What an amazing food at Innlay hut. Have been there for two times - had eggplant curry (bartha), channa Masala and vegetable curry with rice and chapati - veeeeery delicious and prepared vegan for us. Stan, a friendly and funny host did everything that we felt satisfied. He called himself the âEminem of Myanmarâ - so we were also entertained by having our diner.
