Schwäbisch Gmünd (German pronunciation: [ˈʃvɛːbɪʃ ˈɡmʏnt], until 1934: Gmünd) is a town in the eastern part of the German state of Baden-Württemberg. With a population of around 60,000, the town is the second largest in the Ostalb district and the whole East Württemberg region after Aalen. The town is a Große Kreisstadt since 1956, i.e. a chief town under district administration; it was the administrative capital of its own rural district until the local government reorganisation on 1 January 1973.

Eating at a traditional Chinese restaurant in Germany was a bit of a novel experience for me, but once i got used to the idea, the food was seriously impressive. I have eaten at many good Chinese restaurants before but this was exceptional. The chef came and sat and chatted with us after the meal, very friendly service and love the rich, ornate Chinese decor.Hello Annaliese62,thank you for your positive evaluation. This place has conveyor belt sushi as well as an a la carte menu, I was a bit tired of meat and potatoes, so saw the crowd and stopped in. Nice change of pace. Fish seemed fresh and well cut. Generous portions and prices are good. Service very slow, but that's typical in Germany.

I wouldn't usually go to a Thai restaurant in Germany but one of our group was keen to try it. Better than I expected, for an Asian restaurant in a town of this size.Good selection of food, less so for drinks, nice ambiance (not trying too hard to emphasise the Thai aspect), resulting in a very pleasant meal for everyone. Worth considering if you want a break from traditional German food.
