Find out what Asian restaurants to try in Phitsanulok. Phitsanulok (Thai: พิษณุโลก, pronounced [pʰít.sā.nú.lôːk], also locally known as Pilok) is an important, historic city in lower northern Thailand and is the capital of Phitsanulok Province, which stretches all the way to the Laotian border. Phitsanulok is one of the oldest cities in Thailand, founded over 600 years ago. It is best known as the birthplace of King Naresuan, who freed the country from Burmese domination in the late 16th century, and that of his brother and successor King Ekathosarot (Sanphet III). As the crossroad between the northern and central regions of the country, it has long been important both for political and strategic reasons, and was fought over many times in centuries past. Phitsanulok was the capital of Thailand for 25 years during the reign of King Boromma Trailokanat of Ayutthaya. On the banks of the Nan River, the city was originally a small Khmer outpost known as Song Kwae, before the Khwae Noi River changed its course in the 11th century CE. Phitsanulok was also a provincial center of the Angkorian Empire during the Angkorian period. Phitsanulok is home to Naresuan University and Pibulsongkram Rajabhat University, as well as to a major Royal Thai Army base.
Things to do in Phitsanulok
Located in the center of Phitsanulok. Glass House Restaurant with great atmosphere serving modern and classic thai cuisine.
I really enjoyed the lunch I eat here, with my Thai hosts. We needed to be pretty quick, and the dishes arrived very quickly, and they were of excellent standard - Thai/Asian fusion, certainly, but much better than 'fast food'! Tasty, crispy when necessary, and interesting. The restaurant is modern, airy, and set back from the road in pleasant surroundings. All-in-all, a very good experience, and much recommended.
Thai / Asian Cuisine Diverse menu where you find it. And Weasel coffee is not miss. The only place in Phitsanulok. If you're a coffee lover, then you must try ... Do not miss it. The price is not expensive as you think !!!

The setting is stunning! The restaurant is near a pond filled with lotus flowers and is very well decorated. The menu offers a mix of western and Thai food. We only tried the Thai food and we were never disappointed by the quality. The only thing that could be improved is the service. The waiters ate very nice and helpful but sometimes have a hard time understanding your orders. That being said, it's really worth it not only for the food but also for the view.

They have two locations. This is for the one located in the center of town at the Lithai guesthouse. Pleaseant, very clean comfortable and air conditioned. A nice break from street food. They serve both Thai and some western dishes. There is very little western food available here in Phitsanulok, The western food is tasty, albeit not totaly authentic. The Thai dishes are quite good. English menu. Staff speaks very little English but point at the menu and you'll be OK. Service can be a bit slow. They also have a bakery and everything looks good. They make a unique but tasty slider (look for cheeseburger on the menu). Prices are quite reasonable. Part of the Lithai guesthouse which is a good cheap place to stay.

Love the ambience, dining by the riverside. Very local cooking. The food, 7/10. Fried fish is delicious with seafood sauce. The fried pork serve with a unique home made sauce. No disappointment for me.

We open morning time. We serve good coffee and breakfast ( Western & Thai ) start from 07:00 - 17:00 ( everyday )
This is a stylish coffee house and restaurant, frequented primarily by upscale Thais. Very nice decor, Thai and western menu. My wife had a salmon roll with Caesar dressing, Very little salmon and very fishy dressing. I had a hamburger and though not cooked as requested (asked for medium, got well done) it was quite tasty. My wife order a special "coffee pop", looked beautiful, and at best I can only say it tasted very weird. With water and two small beers the tab came to about 700 baht. Not cheap but OK for a change of pace.

Krua Restaurant: We do believe in selecting ingredients and recipes. Thus we just don't serve you only food but the best quality as we can.
This restaurant is supposedly one of the best at Phitsanulok. The decor is modern (not posh) and the menu offering is diverse. I personally find the Thai Food (green curry) rather unauthentic but suffices enough. There is free wifi. However the waiter looked more like a bouncer than a service personnel. Rather poor at anticipating needs ....The pricing is reasonable but pricey by local standards. It is not a restaurant I will be dying to return....

Come and enjoy Thai noodles at Hoika Rimnan, the most popular noodle restaurant in Phitsanulok provice. With unique style of eating while hanging legs and relaxed ambiance, the restaurant can attract local people and tourists to come visit for a decade. I
This eating place is for tourist. People come here just for 'have been here'.It has the advantage over other eating place in this area because it is located nearer to the top of the street next to the temple. Good view of the river but you could find much better tasting noodles somewhere else in Phitsanulok,if you want to eat something good, try other place. Just another tourist attraction. Once is enough for me.

I felt like I was visiting a locals place. And the giggling reaction of the 4 or 5 waitresses to my middle aged self probably confirms that. Anyway, I ordered Yum Moo Yang, which is a spicy pork salad, that looks more like a spicy pork soup, but it was very tasty. The pork was thinly sliced and made the soup a tasty treat. Then the main course arrived. Gaeng Phed Ped Yang, which is roast duck curry with basil and coconut milk. Really good. I was mixing the Yum Moo Yang with the Gaeng Phed Ped Yang and the steamed rice pretty quickly. I really liked these dishes. The atmosphere is old school but the AC was cool and the Singha was cold.
