The Green Lake Chinese Restaurant may not be the perfect place to propose to your sweetheart, but it's a great place for Chinese food at a low price. I had the General Tso's Chicken and cleaned my plate. For $5.50 it was a decent meal. I was surprised at the speedy service. I had scarcely sat down to check my messages, and the woman who took my order set a steaming hot plate of fresh Chinese food in front of me. I was also impressed with the friendliness of the service. After I finished the meal, I went across the street and took a picture of their historic 1922 building.

Restaurant has both Chinese and Vietnamese food, we sampled the Vietnamese. Our order of Udon Soup, Bun Soup, Steamed Rice Cakes with grilled Pork, and Chicken with Vermille noodles. The food was very very good. Plentiful soup even though we ordered small and the plates were great. Ended up with two lunches with so much food. The Bun soup was spicy but not hot/spicy with plenty of meat and noodles. Same with the Udon soup with good pieces of chicken and a very flavorful broth. Prices are very reasonable given the quantity and quality of food. The restaurant itself is simple in design but serves its purpose. I do not believe they have a liquor license. Service was good. Given that they want to serve when the food is ready, they food came to our table when done. It is definitely on our return list.

Service was not very good. Drinks not refilled, children's meal which included rice , didn't come with the rice , which arrived 15 minutes later. Sushi roll we ordered was served 15 minutes after chef started serving our main meal. We told them to cancel but they did bring it anyways and didn't charge us for it. Dirty dishes not cleared so they stacked up in our way. But the grossest thing was ....we were against a wall being blocked by the chef's cart. So any food our waitress delivered to us she asked another customer at our table to pass down to us! Yuck! We went on Valentine's Day at 5:00 and did not enjoy it!
My family and I visited this small local Chinese restaurant this evening to try it out. This is a relatively small restaurant that is attractive inside, with seating for about 30. It was quite clean inside. I have to say that we really enjoyed our dinners, and the price was quite reasonable as well. We were quite impressed, and will definitely be back, either for carry-out or to dine in.
