Ho Jiak Strathfield is a modern take on the open-air hawkers of Northern Penang. Think Char Koay Teow overflowing with moreish stir-fried rice noodles, doused in delicious seafood and spicy Chinese sausage, and topped with market fresh king prawns. Or Nas
We came here for an early lunch on a weekday so there wasnât a problem getting a table just outside HoJiak. We had their Char Kway Teow, Har Mee, Laksa Chee Chong Fun, Chicken Laksa and Chicken Wings. They were all very authentic and delicious. I highly recommend the Laksa, Har Mee and Char Kway Teow. One of the best Iâve had in Sydney and even better than many places in Malaysia. The Chee Cheung Fun tasted a bit starchy and the chicken wings needed a bit more spice otherwise it tasted like normal fried chicken wings. I would definitely come back for their noodles and next time Iâll also try their nasi lemak and Mee goreng. Hi there, glad to hear that you loved our dishes! We definitely recommend coming by early on weekdays so you don't have to try to get a seat during the peak lunch hour! Hope to see you soon again!
We were attracted into this inviting looking restaurant by the nice signage and modern looks, but wished we didn't as the food was average at best.We ordered the Yukgaejang, Short Rib Soup, Galbi-Jjim, Haemul Pajeon Kimchi Pork Set, Chicken Katsu Udon and a Spicy Buckwheat Noodles on this occasion to share between the 8 of us. None of the food were exceptional, the service was quite poor and the owners were extremely reluctant on replenishing the side dishes.Overall, a poor experience and we won't be coming back any time soon.

Good service and lots of choice of noodles and rice dishes. Food arrives quickly and generous portions. Very busy place and authentic style atmosphere. Parking easy too in club carpark.

Have eaten here a few times and it's always been quite good. had one birthday and another just get together here. There isn't many people at the front of the store but around the backyard there is lots happening in the evening. BBQs with lots of koreans eating and having fun. It's a nice little understated venue without bells and whistles and great value. I've only had good experiences here and worth a visit if you're in the area.Hi There Thanks for your review. Since your last visit we have renovated the outdoor BBQ and front section of the shop. If you are in the area please visit us.Regards Hanabi BBQ

We were there on a Friday night and restaurant was quiet. Food was delicious and the old gentleman whom I assume is the owner, is very proud of his cuisine and his restaurant. We enjoyed the food but I think the serving is a bit small for the price we are paying. We had to order quite a bit in order to fill up our tummy :) We most enjoyed the Pineapple Prawn Curry, Roti Chanai, Sambal Fish and the Musang King Pudding. The Hainanese Rice was not thoroughly cooked . Overall an average dinner - no WOW factor.
The restaurant was small yet cozy. The staff's were accommodating and friendly. Located near the train station somewhere in lidcombe it was very much accessible and a must try since majority around the area serves korean dishes. It offers a taste of filipino cuisine which I would say at par or even better to some of the known filipino resto in manila. The cost is reasonable and it offers group meals which i think a good deal for a party of 4 or more.I totally recommend the crispy pata (pork knuckle), all time fav adobo and the flavorful kare kare (peanut based beef stew).Eating here feels like Im back at my home town. Thank you so much Adrian!

After reading earlier reviews, I booked for 3 of us to guarantee we could eat before the show. Despite the queue for tables, our meals arrived relatively quickly (although not all at once, and the first main arrived quite some time before the rice). Serving sizes and prices were reasonable, as was the service - although we never received one of the drinks ordered but they tried to charge for it at the end. The penang curry was like nothing I've ever had before, more reminiscent of a satay, but I really enjoyed the lemongrass with more than a hint of chilli - just how I like it! The cashew and chilli dish was also good, and the servings of tea generous. I wasn't expecting too much given the location and peak demand, but notwithstanding the timing inconsistencies (at least we were sharing so could better make the most of things) I enjoyed the food and will likely eat there again next time I'm seeing a show at Olympic Park.

A first time user of this restaurant and I was very impressed with the speed, friendliness and quality of the food from this place.Probably some of the best deep fried calamari Iâve tasted. The crumb base had a definitive taste to it - a little like the zinger batter from KFC but without the chilli. Thought to insert holes at the top of the styrofoam to release the steam and keep the food warm and dry was an added touch greatly appreciated.Well done guys - weâll be eating there again.

The restaurant is on the Liverpool Road in Burwood and getting parking can be a challenge. The food here is awesome and authentic Indian. We had the vegetable platter, assortment of breads, village special chicken curry and paneer kurchan. All of them were lip smacking good. The ambiance is ok but not fine dining. The service is very friendly and prompt.
