This is a stylish modern and very busy sushi place that serves in the "flights" style of all-you-eat. That is, for a set price (about 20 Euro, I recall) and can choose up to 8 items from their lengthy menu of small dishes, four times. The variety and quality were excellent. Fun!

(Sorry if I am boring anyone with the superlative reviews I keep giving this place).Once again an excellent dining experience. Booked online via the restaurant's website and glad we did as it was pretty full. I have noticed that since we started going here just after the restaurant opened it has been getting ever more popular so I would recommend making a reservation. The chef (and owner) took time from his cooking duties to come out and welcome us.I had one of the specials - lamb madras - but instead of being the usual casserole type dish (stew) the meat was large pieces of marinated lamb filet which had been cooked medium-rare. The madras masala was plentiful and beautifully cooked to the level of spiciness I asked for ("ganz scharf"!). My wife had a mild vegetable and lentil curry which she also enjoyed very much. Thanks once again, Om Mehra, for a wonderful meal.

We ordered a deluxe set, but got a very standard set. Fish was relatively fresh, but Tuna quite pale and dry. As vegetables, the chef only used avocado and two leaves of lettuce. Be careful with the homemade ice tea. It is very sweet.

Banmaai is a very modern looking Thai restaurant in Kiel, just a few minutes walk off of the harbour-side.It was a very warm evening at the time of our visit and almost the whole of the façade was opened up to let in a gentle breeze. On the interior the rattan wall work gives a natural, minimalist but a comfortable, modern feel. Bliss, and that's before the food was served. The food options are very good and you can't go wrong with Tom Ka Gai to start with, and for mains, the Gai Pad Prik Thai Gratiem is amazing !If you are looking for a beer, then you are in safe hands with a choice of local fare and some bottled Thai as well. For cocktails too the selection seems good, it's only in the the wine and spirits department that things are a little on the small side. The staff were great, friendly and thankfully accommodating to our lack of the local language.Overall a very pleasant experience.

we didn't go for the hottest possible options. we both had curries--i had massaman curry with chicken and my partner had panang curry with tofu. the portions were way too much to eat and for once we broke german custom since we saw them preparing food to be picked up, and asked if they could give us the rest, to go. so we also had a delicious lunch the next day.
