I went to this place for dinner alone 3 nights in a row so basically I had tried almost everything i would like on their menu.Hours: 5pm to 11:30pm (last order: 11:00pm)Budget per person: 4,000 yen (without alcohol)Seats: 14 (counter) + 34 (table)Reservation: Highly recommended and counter is great for people watching and interaction with chefs! Although the restaurant wasn't busy during the week, reservation gives the staff heads up to polish up their english and adjust their service for foreigners. TIP: be sure to show up on time for your reservation (5-10 mins before reservation time is deal) and have your hotel info ready upon making reservation with the restaurant.Food: Featuring Kagoshima A4 or above beef (the prefecture just recently won the best national wagyu beef award in Japan over Miyazaki!!), local chicken and premium pork. They are all fresh, delicious and come with great sauce pairings. There are salad, vegetable and rice dishes as well. Ordering: Buying drinks and food per person matching/exceeding the above budget guidance is encouraged. The restaurant is small located in prime spot, it is considered to be rude to camp there. (I saw some Japanese couples left within an hour after they decided not to order more food) I always started off with 1 drink, 1 assorted meat set and 1 salad/veggie option, then gradually added extra items or drinks until I was full. TIP: It is unnecessary to order too much food in each round and some food option can be ordered by `half order' (for solo diner) although the price isn't equally 50% off. No box for leftover is allowed while you are expected to finish all the food ordered. Service: English menu is available but it is about 1/3 to 1/4 of the full Japanese menu. If you have particular cut you would like, better show the pics to the staff. They generally speak very limited english but they are very friendly and tried their best to explain to me about the sauce and did some recommendations on second or third dinners. The staff to patrons ratio is very high: 6 chefs + 6 staff to 48 patrons (fully occupied), service is very attentive and no long wait between orderings. The charcoal grill was always ready for me right before I showed up at the restaurant, therefore I can start grilling my meat/any food without any delay.Location: Right next to Kagoshima chuo station (west exit). It is a stand alone restaurant so it is impossible to miss . Counter area is Japanese style, meaning you have to take off your shoes to enter while the staff will keep yours in locker. IMO, counter is less crowded than table but all counter seat has no back support. I have been to Kagoshima City for 3 times and so far this place is my #1 choice for dinner.

I've been here a number if times while living in Kagoshima. They have something for even vegan or gluten-free diets. More importantly, the food is terrific and makes up for the sometimes lukewarm service. Since the owners are actually from Sri Lanka, the food tends to be spicy but there's some mild options too. Don't forget to try their appetizers and their coconut milk drink is to die for!

The gyoza is excellent and they are great with western people and really go over board. As for the ramen soup you will not be dissatisfied if your just in the mood for basic ramen. It's good but average only

Majority of the staff looked rather young but the ramen is good. I opted for the dry, spicy type, which is not the typical soupy ramen. It appears to be a special for this branch. Choice of spicy level from 1 to 10. For those who love spicy food, do give it a try.

After walking through the seedier alleys of bunka street area we came out at tenmonkan park and headed to the lights across the other side. No sings in English or even the usual display of dishes, but the place was busy so we went in, sat at the bar and ordered the ramen recommended at 700 yen each, no addition seat fee. The food is cooked tight in front of you, good fun and really delicious ramen. The only reason not give give it top marks is that most people were smoking inside, which may put you off, but the extraction system seems to work well as I'm not smelling of smoke now!

Came here looking good shabu shabu beef and pork but left underwhelmed. The quality of the beef and pork is excellent but everything is far more expensive than it should be. The soup was also water based instead of dashi stock. One person was almost $40USD.I ate at another restaurant just around the corner and had far better shabu shabu pork at almost a third of the price.

This is a very popular black pork franchise in Kagoshima. Though it looks expensive from the look, lunch menus are affordable. Local people also recommended. I feel like to visit again for the next trip.- Lunch menus are Shabu Shabu, Tonkatsu, etc. for 900~1500 yen. My recommendation is é»è±ã®éèè¸ãã»ãã(Steamed black pork and vegetables) for 980 yen.- Tonkatsu was a bit like rare or medium rare.- Waited almost no time to enter. Employees were very kind, too.

This restaurant serves unique shabu-shabu which is considered special japanese dish along with sukiyaki or tempura or sushi. The unique thing is that sliced thin pork is cooked by dipping and waiving in the special soup instead of just boiling water in the hot-pot. Once it is cooked we dip it with chapsticks in the same soup used in the hot-pod with raw fresh egg instead of sesami souce or say souce generally used in other shabu-shabu restaurant. If anyone has no problem with pork and raw eggs , this is the place to try.

After the four of us (two US couples, 60-ish) returned from a cruise-based land tour, we strolled thru the âDolphin Portâ and found a terrific conveyor belt style sushi restaurant. Itâs casual, friendly, quick and had English menus. The sushi, shrimp tempura and Udan noodle soup was perfect. Very affordable at about $12 US per person. Donât miss this place - youâll love it.
