This is a family and community place. I have been eating at Gardena Bowl Coffee Shop since we moved to Gardena in 1972. I love this place. They make the best chashu since Tin Sing Restaurant closed. I love their chashu and eggs. My husband loves their Hawaiian Royal. Their egg foo young is like my mother's - more eggs than flour batter. Their fried rice is delicious. My favorite is bacon fried rice. Chashu fried rice is good too. The service is good except for one waitress who forgets a lot. The rest are on top of things. I haven't ventured much because I love their chashu. I have ordered chashu for parties. I'm getting hungry.

We went here with Family, our first Sushi Experience. Just loved the concept of food passing by on a conveyor belt. Alternatively, you can order from the electronic menu dishes you really want to try and hey-presto it comes direct to you via another conveyor belt.

How do I justify my claim?Sakai Sushi in Gardena had been in business for over 50 years and they always prepared the sushi in the same manner passed on from generation to the next. Starting with the selection of best Japanese rice and cooking it the old fashion way. The other ingredients were methodically prepared and rolled together to enhance the best taste. From starting to the finish, the steps and method to assure the best sushi were always in mind. No wonder the customers love sushi from Sakai Sushi.How did Sakai Sushi manage the holiday demand?On the holiday season specially on New Year, the take-out from Sakai Sushi had to be reserved in advance. For this New Year, they open for booking on December 2 and the production of the day were full reserved within 2 hours. This show the demand of the loyal customers that the restaurant had for the past 50+ years.Every time we passed Gardena, the take-out from Sakai Sushi is a must for us. This is an open secret and hope you can try the best sushi in the world in this very simple place.

The wait staff are all bilingual and many of the patrons were speaking Japanese. Very authentic Japanese comfort food. Can order small dishes and share family style, or can order the udon or soba. I opted for the soba and it was very good. Offered cold or hot. Nice Japanese beer too.

We wanted to try something different than the regular menu at an "American" Japanese restaurant. This restaurant is a "Japanese" Japanese restaurnt. By that, I mean that there are dishes on this menu that are much more authentic to the actual country, and items that you won't find on a more Americanized place. Let me warn you, although the food is outstandingly good, and there is very little to enjoy by way of atmosphere, this place is very expensive. I had "black cod" and got about a dozen bites for $12.00! Each and every dish is ala carte, so along with my fish I had to order separately for rice, tempura, whatever. While there, I was the only non-Asian person in the restaurant, so it is certain that the "regulars" know of this place. A small place, but very interesting.

So I waited for that "rainy day" to try a new place. A co-worker of mine has told me of this place for years. Today was the day.I smelled this place 4 blocks away. Beautiful aroma's of grilled Meat. A Fire Station Crew was having lunch there too. Don't let the outside looks fool you! My Beef Teriyaki/Tempura combo was da bomb! came with a light tasty salad, delicious miso, steam rice, mac salad and green tea. My friend had the same. The Beef was tender and easy to chew with flavors to die for. OMG, check it out!, go out of your way, but go there! They're closed in the afternoon, so keep track of hours.

Authentic Japanese food, feel and greetings! You can get private screened rooms to dine, sans shoes! and you will feel transported to Japan!. They give you warm towels to wipe your hands in those rooms too! Easy to spend $100 on a dinner for two because you want to try everything. Fresh and good!

I lived in Japan for two years and became obsessed with ramen and gyoza.That being said, I love this restaurant and love this location. The ramen is, as mentioned in the title, the best I've had in LA. The tonkotsu broth and the noodles made exclusively for Shin-Sen-Gumi taste terrific!I haven't tried everything in LA, but have gone out of my way to eat at some of the higher rated places. The service is good. Everyone is really attentive.Their non-ramen items are delicious, as well! The yakisoba (yakiramen) tastes almost exactly like what I ate in Japan. The gyoza is pan-fried, which is the only way to do it, and usually tastes perfect. I'm not sure if they make it in-house or not, but, due to the change in taste, I assume so.MOST IMPORTANTLY...............KAEDAMA!!!

A lot of selections but all about Uni!!! Very fresh and beautiful decorations of the dishes. The volume of Uni sashimi is very big for 2 people and you might get bored just eating it. I recommend to go there with 4 or more people and order all different kinds to have fun! It is a dream place for Uni lovers!!!

My Aunt and her family treated me to a very tasty and satisfying lunch at Sea Empress. We enjoyed both the steamed and baked BBQ Pork Buns, fried Taro Dumplings, Pork Shiu Mai, Shrimp Har Gow, etc. The large restaurant was very busy on a Tuesday with a large number of Chinese speaking guests dining there - good indication that this restaurant serves high quality, authentic dim sum..
