This Japanese restaurant is located on the opposite side of the Shangri-La Hotel in a row of small restaurants. I went here on the recommendation of a colleague and it was well worth it. The service is really good and the staff are all friendly. Despite not knowing any Chinese, I was able to relay to them what I wanted. The menu is in Chinese only, but each item is represented with a picture so if you know your Japanese, then it's easy enough. I only went for hot food this time round as I didn't fancy and sushi or sashimi, and the food was very good. I actually went twice as it was very convenient from the hotel. I had the usual prawn tempura (good and crispy batter), edamame beans (fresh and tasty), grilled ox tongue (tasty, but in on the small side), tuna salad (large and well, tastes like salad) and washed it all down with the obligatory plum wine which hit the right spot. I went with 3 other colleagues and there was no food left on any of the plates.It is small so you come out smelling of friend food and they also let someone smoke inside which was a bit annoying. There's not dessert, so anyone wanting some Japanese ice cream will have to hold off. On the whole though, I'd definitely go back the next time I'm in the SL Hotel.
