As others have mentioned the mountain noodles are definitely a must have - both unique and delicious. The fried eggplant is also a winner. For the meat course we chose the shredded chicken with peppers which was good but not stellar like the other two. With a side of steamed rice and two beers the total came to 105 rmb (~15 usd), which is good value in this town. Highly recommend because we did not find any better meals in this town.

Stayed one night in PingYao and this place was recommended by someone to have dinner. Food here was very good, ordered dumplings, famous ååé¢, hot pot and other dishes. the food came fast and was delicious and hot. the service was also very good and the waiters were extremely friendly. One even offered to help heat up the broccolis as it was might have turned cold. They also showed us how to eat the different dishes and also how some of the dishes were made. They even have us a free bowl of desert to welcome us to PingYao and the restaurant! the food and service overall was excellent and one of the best this trip in China. Would recommend to friends and family to come here when visiting PingYao. No regrets!

Great guest house that also has a full restaurant. Great for breakfast, lunch and dinner
We stayed 3 nights at the YiDe Hotel and had breakfast and dinner in the restaurant. All the food was a very good quality, tasty and nicely served in the very atmospheric setting. The staff were delightful and attentive. The menu which is inChinese and English is extensive and caters for all tastes. You don't have to be staying in the hotel to eat there. Off the Main Street but worth finding with a slight detour. The food and drink is very competitively priced and in my view good value.

I've read very good reviews of this bar on this site and it's mentioned in Lonely Planet so I was surprised to be served warm bottled beer and to see the three staff members sat playing on their phones or sleeping flat out on the chairs. What with no music playing, it was a very odd atmosphere: I felt like I was intruding! I went in before eating elsewhere at about 5pm (and left 20 minutes later) so it wasn't peak-time for a bar and there were only a few other guests in...maybe the staff were very busy at lunchtime and needed a rest? Anyway, it really didn't impress me at all, unfortunately.
