Thai/Vietnamese food in a colonial era home with an attached gelato stand??? You bet...that's how we rock in Old Saybrook!!! Come on inside, where your eyes will feast on a potpourri of ceramic dragons, Asian watercolors and papier mache lanterns. But that's not all you'll feast on. The menu is vast and loaded with delights to please all pallets. Start with some hot and sour or coconut soup, loaded with cauliflower and spiced nicely. Then work your way toward some Vietnamese spring rolls, beautifully stuffed and fried to perfection. And don't miss the fried dumplings....they're actually deep fried and are absolutely delicious. Then on to the main course. Wonderful pad thai, great basil beef and seafood stir fry. All cooked and presented beautifully....and to your specified spiciness. Staff is delightful too. So if you want a break from fried shrimp and clam fritters after a long day at the beach, come here for a nice meal.

Everything from the appetizers to the desserts is absolutely delicious. The fact that his vegetarian allows the excellence of this small, intimate and very friendly Indian restaurant to really shine forth. Definitely try the Colcassia leaf appetizer. It is one of the best dishes of Indian cuisine I have ever experienced!

We have gone by this place many times over the years as we went to the railroad station or to Pizza Works. After picking up my son at the station we finally decided to try this place. All I can say is I'm sorry. I'm sorry we didn't try this place many years ago. We love Chinese food and this was excellent. I have the fried shrimp. Six or seven large shrimp, lightly battered with rice. My wife had the shrimp and broccoli and my son had the sushi. All were delicious. Service was great and prices reasonable. Our first of many future stops.

The Great Wall offers decent Chinese takeout, but nothing spectacular. It is good and plentiful, and a decent value on short notice when the missus refuses to operate the stove, but nothing you'd really plan ahead for. Grab your favorite six pack and some quick Chinese from the Great Wall, and you'll be set for an evening of whatever Fox 1 Sports has to offer.

One could easily drive or walk right by it and not see it. That would be a mistake. Fresh, reasonably priced, unique items. Look, don't complicate it, just go.

A girlfriend and I had a dual birthday dinner at The Essex. We decided to participate in the tasting menu. It was a phenomenal decision! Each course was better than the next. We had a fantastic server and were so happy to meet the chef as he rounded on tables. The quaint, private atmosphere was perfect for our dinner conversation. The savory and the sweet rounds were sheer perfection! The current theme for the menu is influenced by Brazil! And if you thought you had enough coconut in your life, you were wrong. So wrong.
