Find out what Asian restaurants to try in Derry. Derry (/ˈdɛri/), officially Londonderry (/ˈlʌndənˌdɛri/), is the second-largest city in Northern Ireland and the fourth-largest city on the island of Ireland. The name Derry is an anglicisation of the Old Irish name Daire (modern Irish: Doire) meaning "oak grove". In 1613, the city was granted a Royal Charter by King James I and gained the "London" prefix to reflect the funding of its construction by the London guilds. While the city is more usually known colloquially as Derry, Londonderry is also commonly used and remains the legal name.

We've been here a lot over the last two years and every single time the food is delicious and the staff are always welcoming. (We've also made orders for delivery and they've been just as good as expected)We've even had certain situations where we've had to be "awkward" with food orders and the food has come out exactly the way it was ordered and the staff are always happy to help. I didn't know about this place up until 2 years ago but it's now one of our favourite places to eat. I thoroughly recommend eating here, for me it's a diamond in the rough. At a first glance it really doesn't look like much but if you're debating eating here, just do it, you'll be delightfully surprised. The food really is delicious and the portion sizes are huge. Every time we eat here we always have food left over (from being stuffed) and the staff are always eager to help us get it packed up to take home. Also, if you need a dish less/more spicy, ask for it. The staff are always been happy to help us when it comes to our orders suiting us.To summarise, I'm not sure where the bad reviews are coming from. We've been eating here for two years regularly and haven't had a bad experience. (If that's not consistency, I don't know what is)
Tried this Chinese as close to my accommodation and good reviews. Pleasant area to sit upstairs and watch the street below. Friendly staff. Good value food as I had the 3 course set meal which is choice of starter, main & rice, tea/coffee for £11.95. 2 spring rolls are huge, my main of beef with peppers in black bean sauce was large as was rice for 1 person. Not refined Chinese food but great value, tasty meal.

Pyke 'N' Pommes continues its mission to provide locally sourced, authentic, street-styled food, and now from an all-new, fully licensed location at 57 Strand Road that we've dubbed simply: @57
This is a good casual eatery ... was not as wonderful as I was expecting based on everything I read.We shared the crispy squid box - the squid was not crispy enough for our liking.I had the masa chicken tacos and they were very good and a reasonable portion size. DH had a burger - I had read "they are the best" ... he felt the burger was OK but not the best he's had by a long shot. The fries were OK. We ordered ice cream but they were having problems with the machine so no luck.

So my family and I were staying at the City Hotel Derry and the hotel staff recommended the Mandarin Palace. Their recommendation was greatly appreciated as we had a very good meal. We were seated quickly and the service was very good. I ordered the King Prawn with Chow Mein which was very good and my daughter ordered Chicken Satay which had a bit of a kick. Enjoy!

At Saffron we serve authentic Indian food, with a small European Selection available. We have been in the business for over 3 decades and are coeliac friendly and also offer a large Vegetarian selection. We are family friendly and offer a wide range of Mu
We didnât enjoy our meal at Saffron. A king prawn light dopiazza (£14.50 with rice) contained many prawns but they were quite tough and had a slight chemical taste - none eaten. The - v friendly, helpful - waitress offered an alternative - I asked for dhal which was nicely cooked but too salty. My husbandâs lamb curry was rather tasteless and the sag aloo was over cooked. A veg curry and a paratha were the only acceptable dishes - the rice seemed old. We were also v surprised to discover that sides could only be ordered as a veg curry costing just under a tenner. We normally get three but werenât going to pay close to 30 pounds. We asked if we could have two different 1/2 portion sides - no - why not, at these prices? We were offered them at takeaway prices but still £6-7 - £7.25 in fact - still pricey. Yes they come with rice but as the mains do too, this doesnât help.We often eat at Indian restaurants and alas, Safrron was one of our worst experiences, especially at relatively high prices. Itâs a nice place with good staff but the food leaves a great deal to be desired. Would not recommend

Quite surprised to see the variety of Asian cuisine, especially bao burgers, but the kimchi did not really taste like real kimchi if there was any at all. Overall good food, a good break from the ubiquitous hamburgers and french fries in Ireland.

IFully licensed authentic Indian and Italian Pizzeria with award winning Indian and Italian Chefs.
Myself, husband and 2 kids ate in mama masala at the weekend..... This us a fab restaurant with a really buzzing atmosphere over looking the foyle River. The food is the best Indian food I have ever experienced, the chef will also cook the food to the level of spiciness you like, there is a fantastic range on the menu and they also do Italian if preferred.... The staff are really friendly, helpful and nothing is a bother!! The food is very reasonably priced for what you get, the restaurant is also starting to host a buffet night where you get the opportunity to sample various Indian dishes at only £14:95 per person..... If you are in the area give this restaurant a visit, you will savour every minute!!! Just fab!

Came back to Mekong to try the dinner menu. Enjoyed our meal my monkfish curry was just amazing one of the nicest dishes I've had in a while. My friends Pad Thai was also good. The spring rolls starters are just ordinary and not great for £5. Service was really slow but they obviously everything is cooked freshly. My only issue with this great wee place is trying to book. It is small and only open some nights so reserving a table is necessary but you can never get through on the phone and they don't reply promptly to face book messages . There was a huge staff there on the night we had dinner possibly too many for such a small restaurant could someone not answer the phone? Id like to see the owners of Mekong expand into better premises and become a little more organised but the food is great which is the main thing and we'll be back .
