We came to Plum Garden, as we had been in a nearby suburb. When we arrived, we found that Plum Garden in Crystal Lake has closed after only opening this past May. There is still the parent restaurant in McHenry. A valiant effort, but it just didn't work.

New Peking Chinese Restaurant is just a stone's throw from beautiful downtown Crystal Lake. People travel from near and far to partake in the savory Chinese cuisine, including a combination of Mandarin, Szechuan and a touch of Cantonese, with luscious tan
My quest won't end here, but it does have potential. Here's my ramble on this stop of my quest for excellent Chinese food.New Peking is in a good location with plenty of parking in a small strip mall and not much else in the immediate area that is open for lunch. There are two entrances, however to get to the dining area you have to go in where the takeout register is and then wait for someone to seat you in the dining room. Why not open the entrance into the dining room complete with a hostess stand and real menus (the lunch menu was copied on two pages and just stapled, not even two sided or laminated. They should talk to VistaPrint or someone.)Why is there a nice flat screen TV that isn't on? Put on the weather, sports anything other than a blank screen. It can't run up the electric bill that much. The dining room is a nice shade of blue, but blue doesn't entice anyone to eat. Shades of red added to the decor wouldn't hurt. Lighting could be improved too. Maybe a lunch buffet would increase the business in the dining room. A bar wouldn't hurt either. The service - overall it was slow. It's a what came first the chicken or the egg situation; is the service slow because there's not many customers in the dining room or is the dining room empty because the service is slow. They really should evaluate their staffing situation. Now for the food - lunch specials are very reasonable, food is decent but could be better. Fried rice was clumpy, but chicken and vegetables were not bad. I guess you get what you pay for, I've definitely had better egg rolls but soup was good :)My quest continues, might go back if they make drastic changes.

Come by your local Noodles & Company at 4912 Northwest Highway, , Crystal Lake where its globally inspired dishes including noodles, soups and salads, come together to create a World Kitchen.
Dined here twice during a 14 night stay at Country Inn Suites which is abouty five minutes walk away.Liked the fact that you could customise the menu to fit your own preferences. Service was fast and efficient and reasonably good value for a fast food chain.

My most recent visit on aWednesday evening at King was one of the worst buffet food !The restaurant was not busy two waitresses were reading magazines. Some of the food sitting on the steam table were getting dry and cold. I have never seen so many different Chinese food swimming in sauce. One of the dishes looked like some kind of pork in red sauce. The fried chicken wings was dry and salty and so was the crab. As a matter of fact most of the food were salty. The pot stickers were dried and picked over. It took over an hour before the chicken wing was replinished and was salty too. King served crab legs for dinner. They looked good andnot salty but had no taste!! They looked like crab legs but had no flavor whatsoever. Some salt would be nice here. King had plenty of fresh fruits and little cut up cakes. Ice cream too for dessert. It was not a good experience atKing. Bad food, average service, don't waste your money.

The restaurant is now called "Asian Buffet" after a recent name change and is located in the Crystal Lake Plaza strip mall at 6500 Northwest Highway (RT 14). The Chinese Buffet offers a wide variety of appetizers, chilled salads, hot soups, side items, hot entrees, and desserts. Besides the buffet, there is a Sushi Bar and a Hibachi Grill. At the Sushi Bar if you are looking for something specific, customers can make special requests. They are quite accommodating and will make it for you. The food is well attended to on the buffet with staff keeping the dishes fresh and filled. They do the portions right and refill more often instead of most restaurant buffets that leave the food stand too long. This is the key to this restaurants quality. Everything is delicious!

This family-run restaurant has been serving classic Chinese food for over 50 years. My family went with my grandfather in the late 60s, into the 70s and 80s. The place has not changed---the decor is the same, and charming. The menu is classic Chinese. The food is well-prepared, and the portions are generous. I was visiting my sister, and we went for a pre-theatre dinner on a Saturday night----the place was packed at 5 p.m. Cheerful, attentive service. Reasonable prices. Our dinner was excellent. And brought back so many pleasant memories.

Had the shrimp/veggie tempura special. Got there before noon and wide open seating.Hot tea was warm and the miso soup was barely warm....could not eat it.Side salad with ginger dressing was average.Main entree was hot and good, so it makes up for the other shortfalls.I'll give it another try again.

The best way to describe this restaurant is great Chinese food, with an all American experience. A large, clean dining room highlights the dine in experience. A nice menu and good pricing. We did not have any adult beverages, but a bar is there for those who prefer the beverages from the bar. This was our first visit to Chen....we will return. All in all, the restaurant was good value for the money, and good service too. This place is a winner....

The Thai Commerce Ministry introduced the "Thai Select" seal of approval in 2006 to certify the authenticity of Thai restaurants overseas. The criteria include health and safety standards, Thai decor, an experienced Thai chef, and use of Thai ingredients and equipment. We had a lovely dinner at Krystal Thai (chosen on the basis of Tripadvisor reviews, of course) and noticed the Thai Select award as we were paying the bill.eat in (20 or so tables) or carry outplenty of parkinglocated in a strip mall. Look for T. J. Maxx.

So we have eaten here so many times. I would previously always give this 5 stars; however, this time our crazy boy rolls were mushy inside. The drinks were unbelievable.... especially the peach sake. The grinch drink was also amazing. Always get the mountain roll. The tuna mango TIL was also perfect and refreshing. Although we didnât do hibachi this time, we commonly do and the experience is dynamite!! The hibachi chefs are entertaining and excellent. My kids ask to come here every other week. We will definitely be back. We live this place n always have excellent service and an amazing experience. Next time , Iâll bet my review will be 5 stars.
