Reviews on Argentinean food in San Antonio de Areco, Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. A compact small town nearly 70 miles northwest of Buenos Aires, San Antonio de Areco is in the heart of the Argentine Pampas region. It’s a great 1½-hour day trip by car or bus from Buenos Aires—or the perfect jumping-off point for those who choose to visit at a nearby estancia, or a traditional large rural ranch and estate. Major attractions here include the colonial sights of San Antonio de Areco itself, the Museum of the Gaucho (which celebrates Argentine cowboys), and a variety of estancias themselves, which are located within two hours of San Antonio de Areco. If you don’t feel like planning your own itinerary, several tour and travel companies will coordinate your visit and arrange your estancia stay.

Restaurante / Parrilla/ Cafeteria. Comida elaborada con productos frescos del lugar. Desayunos, almuerzos, meriendas y cenas.
We were looking for a small town no too far from downtown BA to show our grandsons how small towns looked like 50 years ago. I found Villa Lia, near the more known San Antonio de Areco. Two paved streets, a park, around it the church, the municipality, and the restaurant Las Argibay. What a pleasent surprise! They offer 3 menus which start with a tasty empanada. Main course can be pasta, fish or barbecued meat and sausages. Desserts are homemade. The place is vdry simple but clean with forthcoming serviice ( granma Argibay came to the table to check that everything was OK) Portion sizes were big, prices were more than reasonable. They have some tables on the sidewalk facing the park were on sunny days you can enjoy a simple but tasty home made meal. I can only recommend it.Alma, Thank you very much for visiting us and for your generous words. Regards.

We ate here two nigts in a row because the food was very good and very reasonably priced! My partner had the best empanada de jamon y queso that he has ever eaten (and he is a fiend) and I ate more papas fritas than I would like to admit because they were so tasty. Compliments to the chef! The meals were also fery well priced. The only downfall was that the staff were quite slow, and on the second night they forgot to serve us... they apologised!Thank you very much for your positive and negative critiques!!! we will work harder with our waitresses...

Love this ancient corner bolicho. Coffee, media lunas, sandwiches de migas, diarios, decent internet and regular neighbourhood clientele. Soda siphon theme is catchy, with some interesting pieces on the shelves. A comfort cafe.

We went to this restaurant for my birthday dinner and it was perfect. The menus was extensive, food was excellent, portions were generous, service was fast and efficient and the prices were lower than usual. I had the beef de lomo brochette and my partner had fish in a four cheeses sauce. The entrees, beverages, wine, cost only 300 pesos about us $20 including gratuity. Highly recommend for good food and service in San Antonio de Areco and it is located beside the river parkland.

Bar Tokio has a traditional decor with a few modern touches. It's a very good spot in the beautiful town of San Antonio de Areco. We stop there to have breakfast on our way to an "estancia" nearby. The "medialunas" (croissants) and "café con leche" (latte) were good, same as the service, but the best of all was the local feeling and the atmosphere. There were a group of elder men playing "truco" (National cards game) that made a perfect picturesque scene. At Bar Tokio you could also buy old siphons and other popular antiques. I recommend to stop by while visiting San Antonio de Areco!

Another must in San Antonio de Areco. This time we ordered the menu of the day: Provoleta con Jamon Crudo (Grilled Cheese) and Bife de Chorizo (Sirloin Steak). My God, amazing, excellent as usual. The atmosphere inside is fantastic and the owners are lovely. Debit cards & Cash Only. Anyway, we ended paying USD 17 per person...gracias por su comentario

Wonderful food, reasonable prices, good service.
Almacen de Ramos Generales is definitely one of my favorites in Areco. This time we ordered just grilled meat, Asado (rib) and Entraña (thin skirt) along with Achuras and salads. We paid around USD 25 per person. The food and the service, as usual, were very good!

The most genuine pulperia in the centre of town. Young crowd fills up the place until late hours. You feel like you are in the 19th century.

Trading on the Italian heritage of de Areco, El batara could pass muster in Florence. It offers dine-in service on rustic wooden tables--seats about 16 total. The menu features a variety of cheeses and the Argentine version of Italian salamis, pancettas, prociuttos on fresh baguettes. It is available as a sandwich (45 pesos) or as a meat-cheese variety platter that serves two for 75 pesos. Cold beer or soda available at reasonable prices. For an appetizer, don't miss the the home-made empanadas (12 pesos each). Great place for lunch where you can easily get out for less than US $5, empanada and soft drink included. Had lunch there twice during our visit to San Antonio de Areco.

They told us they were delayed because the restaurant was full but the food worth every minute!.The price was around ARS 700 / USD 21 per person.
