We recently stopped for lunch at this charming cafe and purveyor of an eclectic collection of things for sale - from inexpensive jewelry to authentic Persian carpets. The food was excellent and a great value - large portions (we took leftovers home with us). Make sure you get an order of their Squash Hushpuppies - very tasty. This place is worth a slight detour off of I-95 if you are traveling in that area. It is the kind of very good local place that we would have never known about in the era before the internet. Excellent food and friendly, efficient staff.

Reservations highly recommended at this legendary beer parlor/ steak grill cookout. The beer is cold. The party has started and the steak is cooked to order and delicious. I know itâs a juke joint but we had a fine time. You owe it to yourself to go at least once. Great vibe, fair service, better steak. Take cadh

Decided to go for the full blown Papa Joe's Pork Chops. Big platter. 2 chops, hash browns, side salad, and Texas toast. All for about 9 bucks. That's a Lotta food.Tip: get grape jelly for the chops.

So if you are traveling I 95 through South Carolina, and pass exit 33 there are a couple of hotels, surprisingly, a Hampton, and a Best Western...nearby, also at the Interstate are a McD's and a Waffle House...but if you are looking for something a little more sit-down, and get served with even a hint of getting an adult beverage, walk into Eva's 17 West Kitchen and walk out the side door into the lobby of the Best Western. There is a Lounge there, the Banana Boat Lounge, and Eva's will serve you in the lounge. Food was a small step above acceptable, with the fried pickle chips being some of the best...We shared an order of grilled fish tacos, (a Central South Carolina specialty?) and they were good...but, Bruce and the well-stocked bar at the Banana Boat Lounge were the highlight. Nice well-priced wine list and some nice whiskeys available. Had a German Mosel Riesling (went back for second glasses)...the Hampton sent us over there, and they offer a 10% food discount if you tell them you are staying at the Hampton.
