This Hardee's is on a busy corner where two highways cross over each other. It is very busy with local farmers and construction workers and tourists and other customers. The service is very fast. The food is hot and well prepared. The floors and table tops and bathroom were all clean. The building and parking lot seem to be in good repair. There were four high top tables and four regular height tables and ten booths. There is a lot of tables and seating in this restaurant. Everything is plastic so it is easy to keep clean. I generally rate fast food low but I think this is one of the better feast food locations in Central Iowa.
Podunk Center is a gem, nearly hidden in the Iowa countryside. From the scenic drive through covered bridge country to the sweeping table-side views, from the warm family atmosphere, to the delicious food, you won't be disappointed. Enjoy comfort staples like pan-fried chicken and mashed potatoes, or juicy burgers, grilled salmon and pasta specials. But the steaks take center stage, flame-broiled to exact specifications, perfectly seasoned. Their ribeye is the ribeye against which others should be compared. The service is warm, comfortable and friendly, leaving you feeling like an old friend invited into a family's home. Podunk Center is definitely worth the journey!

Pizza Hut. A chain restaurant or is it? Every Pizza Hut I have been to has been pretty consistent with one of its chain restaurants compared to the next of it's chain restaurants. But in Winterset, things were different. My greatest reflection on this restaurant is that when we ordered our pizza it looked exactly like the advertisements of Pizza Hut pizzas (if not greater) and the taste was out of this world. I know what I love in Pizza Hut pizza but the consistency this particuliar restaurant offers is simply breath taking. This review is really to put a spot light on the one guy in the rear of the restaurant crafting up these impeccable pizzas. I do not know his name, I just know he has some cool tatts going on and always seems humble about the pizza he produces. Everything we have ever ordered is a piece of artwork and the management is always very helpful and kind. I hope in time you pay the chef, the cook, the artist back making pizzas more because if he leaves then your restaurant just may lose the reason behind why I always return.

This must be a local favorite meeting place. While we were there, it filled up with locals chatting with each other. Food was pretty good, and service was good. We live in a larger city so this was different for us but pleasant.

Rodell's Smokehouse is a family owned and operated barbque restaurants. The first ever in Winterset Iowa!! Our meat is smoked daily: ribs, brisket, graziano sausage, and pulled pork and served with out homemade family secret sauce.
What a visit. The food was outstanding, plentiful, and our waitress was top notch. We loved the onion rings, BBQ, and their western burger was out of this world. I appreciated that the burger was too big for one person and I wanted to split it with my mom and they did without making us feel like we all needed an entree. They even halved it for us before we got it. Again, I can't say enough about our waitress. I forgot her name but she was expecting and sincerely was one of the best waitresses I've experienced in all my travels.
When in Winterset IA, The Montrose Pharmacy is an experience not to be missed. Our tour group of (6 people) enjoyed lunch there two days in a row. The Montrose is more than one might expect form a small town pharmacy and features ... the "old time" soda fountain and the accompanying restaurant. The store and restaurant are clean and accommodating. The pharmacy is fully operational and it is complimented by sundries and notions that one might find in the big box stores. One of our party suffered a sprained ankle and easily found all she needed to care for her injury at the pharmacy. The restaurant menu can satisfy any appetite and then there are the deserts and soda fountain for extra treats. The tenderloin sandwich is a winner as was the tortilla soup. The tenderloin sandwich was enjoyed by another member of our group. Lunch prices are very reasonable and portions are not lacking. The chicken salad sandwich and tortilla soup "special " (as shown in the photo) was $7.50. Service was a bit slow on our first day but were were there with the locals lunch crowd who apparently, know a good thing when they have it. We visited later in the afternoon on the second day with fewer people and thus faster service. Here is my thoughts on the Montrose Pharmacy ... I wish we had such a store where we reside ... Montrose was an excellent experience that you can enjoy too.

It's an old standby, but The Sports Page continues to be one of the best places in town to eat. Excellent food, big portions (only order the full size Chef's Salad if you're REALLY hungry!) and reasonable prices. Appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, onion rings, steaks, chicken, pasta, wraps are very good, and they have a wide variety of beers and a full bar. Great staff, quick service. VERY popular around suppertime especially on Fridays so be prepared to wait a bit. There's also a very nice banquet room in the back. All together and excellent choice for dining out!

Anything Sweet & More Cafe is located on the south side of historic Downtown Square in Winterset, Iowa. Originally, we opened in February 2012 as a pastry, bread, pie, & sweet shop. In March 2012 we began serving hot, homemade entrees & soups & fresh, mad
After visiting John Wayne's museum & house we were looking for someplace to have a light lunch and came across Anything Sweet & More Café. The name is a bit misleading because it mentioned ethnic comfort food which we did not find but the sandwiches were delicious and the place was decorated cute, like a farm kitchen. Two very friendly ladies greeted us, to seat us, take our order and check if there was anything we needed. Enjoyed our meal and the little visit with the ladies.Thank you very much for visiting Anything Sweet & More Cafe, and thank you for taking the time to review us. We think maybe we were out of our specials when you visited, because we usually have Italian, German, & American entrees available.Again, THANK YOU! for reviewing our cafe and visiting us. We hope you'll visit again soon.Lisa & Vinsen Joel Alessandro

The Northside Café is located in a historic building built in 1876 by Eli Cox on the north side of the Winterset town square, across the street from the Madison County Courthouse. The Bridges of Madison County was written from our window seat booth (John
Very disappointed in Trip Advisor reviews lately. This restaurant is purely an iconic tourist trap. Very meager selection and overpriced bland food. The onion rings have no flavor although good portion size. The chicken pot pie was hot and that was about the best thing you could say about it. Again flavorless. My companion got the pub steak and said it was probably worst piece of meat he has ever had. Two people and the bill was almost $60 and that didnât even include dessert. Went there on a a Saturday night and it was basically dead. The locals donât even eat there so that should tell you something. Totally overpriced for what you get. I would NOT go out if my way to recommend to other travelers. It may be highly rated for the town but definitely not a must stop place in my book. Talked to some other locals and it seems everyone drives into Des Moines if they want to eat at a âgoodâ restaurant.
