Enjoy lunch overlooking Manteoâs Main Street from the Pub or enjoy the sound views and boardwalk from the waterfront dining room and porch.
My family came here for lunch because a friend recommended it. We were not disappointed! My crab sandwich was terrific and the Angry Burger was fabulous. The sides were also very tasty. I tasted the pimento cheese on my husband's burger, and I absolutely loved it! I will get the pimento cheese sandwich the next time we're here.

Darrellâs is a family-style seafood restaurant thatâs been a favorite on Roanoke Island since 1960. Seafood is the definite specialty; the fried oysters are widely touted as the best anywhere, served with the traditional fixings of cole slaw, french fries
On a recent visit to Roanoke Island, specifically Manteo, my wife, I, and youngest son stopped at Darrellâs for breakfast. A co-worker of my wife had spoken highly of this local restaurant for their dinner selections so we thought breakfast should be just as good.Upon entering the restaurant we were warmly greeted and within minutes led to our table. It took several minutes before our server appeared, gave us menus and took our drink orders. The breakfast menu featured items such as sausage gravy and biscuits, all manner of hotcakes, country fried steak with gravy and eggs, omelets, breakfast quesadillas, etc. etc.Our server returned with our drinks then took our orders. It would take a while before our breakfast choices arrived which made little sense as the restaurant had minimal patrons and there seemed to be a number of servers hanging out behind the cash register. Our server returned with our breakfast choices, asked if there was anything else we needed then left. It would be some time later before she checked on us and by the time she did we were ready to leave. The food preparation and presentation was certainly not what we had expected given the rave reviews my wifeâs co-worker had given her. Expectations not withstanding Iâm going to assume dinner surpasses the breakfast experience.

My cousin recommended this restaurant as a place he had been coming to for years. I was more than disappointed. Although we had made reservations, they were not ready when we arrived and we had to wait an additional 15 minutes. The menu only contained four entrees and they were out of one of them, (the Tuna). I ordered the New Zealand lamb which was smothered in marina sauce, thus disguising the taste completely. The service was slow and we didn't leave the restaurant until 10:15, (arrived at 8:15, but had to wait to be seated). The others I was with enjoyed their food, (different from the lamb), but in general I paid way too much for what was just an average experience.

Great food great price, I had the hamburger all the way, real ground beef, not a pre-made patty. My husband had the fried oysters, he said they were the best he'd ever had, really fresh.

We tried Avenue for the first time and we were pleasantly surprised. The service was impeccable (too bad our waiter was returning to Appalachian State). The salads were super delicious. I loved the shala shala. The onion rings were crunchy with a yummy sauce. I had the crabcakes and they were tasty. All around great restaurant.

Striper's is in a beautiful location overlooking Shallowbag Bay and so it's an enjoyable spot for a meal. Also the menu is a crowd pleaser and there is something for everyone on the menu. I like to go to Striper's when we have a spread of ages for the meal, and also when you want to have a good visit over a meal. It's not a noisy restaurant and so you can talk and relax. The food is good and the menu is creative. Enjoy!
