Houlihan's Restaurant and Bar- at DoubleTree

Forget 'casual dining.' That's an industry term so out of touch with how consumers eat and drink today. For premium quality and style; fare that's at times familiar and other times adventurous and a laid-back modern setting, Houlihan's is a true original.

Stopped in today to use my birthday coupon. Was disappointed they were temporarily out of salmon. Our waitress Tara recommended the scallops. They were delicious. Tara is attentive without being overbearing. Pleasant and knowledgeable. She never disappoints. Will start asking for her.KSLNMo, thank you so much for the 5 stars and great review on Tara. She is quite the staple for our restaurant and we are lucky to have her. I love that you will continue to ask for her. We like to see our guests have a favorite server that they ask for. We look forward to your future visits with us!

After several days of sampling the area’s BBQ, we decided to try a steakhouse. Of course I turned to Trip Advisor for recommendations, and I was not disappointed! For an appetizer, we had bacon wrapped pappadews. Then we both had the prime rib and roasted cauliflower and broccoli. It was all well-prepared, and the au jus was a perfect complement to the prime rib. Cayson was an excellent server, making great recommendations and helping us to stick to our low-carb lifestyle. I would definitely return.

The onion rings appetizer would be worth a trip by themselves. Best in area we've ever had. After those calories, I had the pot pie with side salad. Both were great. Wife had chicken tenders and said they were good. Service was quick and very pleasant. We will be back again, just have to watch the calorie counts. Left full with wife's half left for lunch tomorrow.

Didn’t get a chance to review food thanks to lousy reception by wait staff who was too busy chit chatting with her colleague rather than greet customers at the entrance. When we waited for close to ten minutes by the entrance for anyone to take us to a table, I decided to check inside. The tables were mostly free except for wait staff who were eating and chatting with each other. I asked one of them, a female with short frizzy hair, if the restaurant was open, she glared at me and shouted “what?!” I was shocked, I said we are waiting to be seated, she said rudely a host will come and seat you and turned around and continued chatting! Honestly, a street urchin would have had better manners.Needless to say we walked out and didn't bother to give this place a chance.Dear Guest,This is extremely upsetting to read and the experience you described is certainly not to our standards. We are meeting as a team today to review this feedback and ensure it does not happen again. Please know that I am extremely sorry to have lost your business. We would be grateful for another chance to impress you with our normal high standards of service and care. Best,John BlansitFood & Beverage Director

On our road trip across America, we stopped overnight in Springfield. We asked the lady at the front desk of our hotel for a dinner recommendation and she suggested Jimm’s. It was great! If we lived in town, we’d become regular customers! We enjoyed the wine sampling offered before we made our wine choice, the salmon and Hawaiian sirloin were delicious, and Heidi, our server was excellent. Next time we’re in Springfield, you’ll find us at Jimm’s!

The food is undeniably good. Interesting presentations, great flavors, and well done overall. They also have some nice party spaces for small or large crowds. However, the feeling in the place is kind of snooty. Wait staff is efficient but a little chilly. You feel like you've walked into a party you weren't invited to, where everyone else knows each other. I don't think it's my imagination, either, because we have gone to hundreds of nice restaurants in cities all over the country without feeling that way. Prices are high, portions are fairly small, but that is typical for a restaurant like this. We only eat here when we are invited to a party or by someone else. Not one of our favorites in town.
