Find out what American restaurants to try in Sosua. Sosua is everything you want a beach town to be. Clear waters teem with coral, perfect for snorkeling and diving. Above sea level you’ll find multicolored sands lined with beach shacks. This small enclave of the Dominican Republic was once a haven for Jewish refugees. Historic sites and synagogues offer great perspective on Sosua’s postwar identity. On a lighter note, a community of ex-pats helps fuel a boisterous, international nightlife scene.

Best burgers and grill in town. Cold beer, tropical cocktails and friendly stuff. Live music on weekends!
Alicia's Grill House has done a great job of advance notice, promotions, and publicity, and as a vecina, I wanted to check them out. It's a very wide open, clean & fresh--if a little bare--space. There's a small L-shaped pool, which is very pretty and looks very clean. I had planned to try and hit Alicia's for their cocktail special, but my partner-in-crime cancelled, and that's not the kind of thing one wants to do alone.....So I went for an early dinner tonight, with my dog. I ordered a glass of red wine, and it came in a very lovely, very large glass, with VERY little wine in it. I commented on that. The lovely waitress came back with a YUUUUGE glass of wine, so we were good. The menu is not extensive. A lot of burgers, like a bleu cheese, a double, an Italian, etc. Chicken wings, churrasco. I do not normally eat pig, but decided to try the ribs. And I also ordered, for 80 pesos, the sort of signature potato, roasted and spiraled on a stick. Words of wisdom: order this potato thing. Order more than one. It is to die. What I know from ribs you could write on a teaspoon, but these seemed good. I asked for them well done, because, you know, pork, but they were moist and flavorful. I ate them without the BBQ sauce, bc I tried it and found it way too sweet. My dog was also happy to have his way with the bones. I don't exactly pick them clean.....Anyway, I like this place and I hope that they find their feet. The menu needs to expand and the space needs to be made a little warmer---candles, flowers, tablecloths.I will be going back. Great location, and I am always glad when new places open in Sosua.

Not much décor but pleasant. Small, about 6 tables but comfortable. They also prepare meals for the bar across the street so lots of dishes are delivered to the bar while you are dining. Prices were low. You dine on an enclosed terrace but you are right beside the road so lots of traffic noises at times.

One of many, but this seems to be the gathering place before one of many great restaurants. The owners are professional & very helpful to new guests. Our Realtor introduced us to the locals which made us feel like townies! The owners and townies are Italian,French,German, & British that have been in the area for many years. We felt like we were in St Tropez! Do not forget to visit Lazy Dog Beach Bar and Grill.

Under new management since I was last here and it's great. Had some really good meals lately here, ie., quesdillas (yummy), fish and chips, fish fingers and chips and Shephard's Pie, highly recommend them all. Service was excellent and the staff is very friendly and attentive.

After about 6 days of eating authentic Dominican food in Santo Domingo, I arrived in Sosua craving some American food! Well compared to Santo Domingo the pickings were extremely slim! So I checked trip advisor and the Jolly Roger was the top spot for American style food in Sosua and thank god I wasn't disappointed! We ate at this spot for the majority of our stay in Sosua. I had the chicken bacon ranch sandwich and had the chicken tossed in the spicy bbq sauce which was really tasty! I also had the wings which were fried hard just how I like! The only thing I didn't like is that the wing sauce was put on the side instead of having the wings tossed in the sauce. Maybe it's a Canadian thing? But overall I really did enjoy this restaurant!
