We (a group of ten) were looking for a quick lunch before the train returned to Durango. We were seated quickly and continued to have efficient service. We ordered many different sandwiches and entrees. Everyone was satisfied with their lunch -- nothing fancy just good simple food. Availability of "vintage" sodas was a nice feature.

We stopped in Silverton on our drive from Ouray to Durango for a cup of coffee at the Avalanche Coffee House, but it had not yet opened for the day so we began to stroll the mostly closed shops on Greene Street. It was just around 8:00 AM on a Sunday so this truly rustic town was just waking up.We found The Brown Bag and walked in for some coffee. As we enjoyed our delicious coffee we looked over the menu of mostly breakfast sandwiches and decided to order the Original Breakfast Sandwich and the Kennedy.Both were served up in short order and were delicious. It was the perfect amount of food to relax for a bit before heading back south for Durango. They also had a variety of items that would make for a perfect lunch especially if you had to just grab it and go. Our entire bill came to just $18.25.This was our first breakfast in Silverton and I would definitely return to the Brown Bag again for breakfast or for lunch..

Located next to Smedleyâs Suites, we ate here on our first night in Silverton. After taking our drink order, a plate of bread was brought to the table. It was quite good. Matas, our server who was from Lithuania, was pleasant and helpful. His English was excellent! My husband ordered chicken parmesan, and I had a baked potato. Portions were generous. Bill with tax, tip, and two beers was $50.

The place is one block from the Main Street. Itâs clean, has a rustic touch to it, the staff are very polite & warm. Excellent fast service with simple homemade food, delicious breakfast for a good price. They have simple variety of menu & we will definitely go back for dinner. Golden block stays open later than anywhere else in town, which is nice if you realize too late that you don't have anything to cook. The beer is decent and so is the food, but not spectacular. Service is inconsistent. Sometimes it is excellent, and sometimes it's clear that you're not exactly the priority as the guest. It's nice to have a later night dinner option but I wish I enjoyed eating there more.

Watch out for fried food. Two of us shared onion rings and we were the only two of our party who got sick later that day. Otherwise, I highly recommend it for food, service and ambiance. Just avoid deep fried foods.

On local recommendation we dropped in for dinner..Excellent customer service from the start. Very friendly and attentive. Place is not big but very cosy with indoor and outdoor seating. Great selection of beers, cocktails and good food menu. Hands down the best pizza I've ever had and I've been to Italy.. Highly recommend dropping in here even if only for a beer and the amazing view.

Nice, homey little restaurant - nothing fancy but the food was excellent (we had huevos rancheros and french toast), prices were fair, and the server was outstanding. She took care of the entire restaurant very efficiently and with a pleasant attitude and smile. It is a short walk from the center of town down the main street. We definitely recommend it.

Ate at this restaurant while on train break in Silverton. Ordered rueben sandwich and split pea soup. It was very good. Hubby ordered turkey and cheese croissant and same soup and said it was very good also. Donât hesitate to try this restaurant.
