Knoebels Alamo has changed a bit. Their Hot Sausage had little flavor. The onions and peppers were boiled in water, instead of grilled. Still good coleslaw, but the French Fries were limp (as if they were sitting around for 4 hours). I pumped ketchup........but it didn't help. We threw half of it away

We just started going back to Masser's after about a 2 year absent due to lack of quality of food and being served cold food. We took a chance again recently and were pleased to find things had turned around! Food is just as advertised - delicious, homemade, and HOT! Friendly wait staff and decent time of service. Really glad this restaurant is back to good quality home cooking and dining!
Nice place to go to for some ice cream, or even a bite to eat. Not much out in the area, but this is a must if in the area. Brings back the old time memories.
My fiance' took me here for breakfast. Although I'm not a real coffee drinker, I opted for one anyway. It was actually pretty good, not at all strong and bitter. Served up in a cup you would expect to see in a 50's style diner. I had the SOS and when it arrived, it was a plateful. (A 50's style plateful) I almost didn't even need the side of home fries, but they were a welcoming addition. Everything here screamed (to me) nostalgic diner, even down to the jukebox at each booth. The food was awesome & the service was great too. I felt so comfortable here, I can't wait to try more on the menu. Pineapple stuffed French Toast was one of the specials this day. Holy Moly.
Ale House Bar & Grill offers lunch, dinner & late night with tale out avaliable, signature cocktails, 19 taps, a variety of craft, seasonal and domestic beer, along with a 60' bar, flat screen TVs, pool table, touch Tunes Jukebox & newly renovated atmosph
We had stopped for a late lunch on our way through the town. The place had a fun atmosphere and some fun drinks.Food was really good, a little small on the portion, you could order and appetizer and a sandwich though and be ok.I enjoyed it and would go back again. There were other things on the menu I would liek to try.

We went there expecting good food and service. I ordered fish....which was alright. My girlfriend ordered a burger. The ground chuck smelled sour, came out undercooked and the service sucked!!! The owner was more worried about his phony friends than the rest of the customers. What a shame.

My wife and I were back home in Shamokin visiting friends. We went there for lunch. The restaurant is in a very nicely renovated building across from the Independence Fire Company. The food was delicious. The staff was efficient and courteous. My wife had Celiacâs Disease and has to eat a strict Gluten Free diet. They did an excellent fob feed her safely. We will go there again while we are in town.

We were here for breakfast. Start was tiny sweet rolls...just enough. I had cream chipped beef on a ham and cheese omelet. Some of the best SOS I've ever had. The servings are ample. The service staff is pleasant and attentive. The prices are too low for the quality and content but fit the depressed region. Close to my home town so this will be a regular stop.

Burger and hotdogs only!
Yes, as previous reviews state, the price is about $4+ for a hotdog and hamburger but it's worth it! The taste and quality haven't changed which is great! Of course it's your natural hole in the wall establishment in a more than depressed area but it's never waiver on keeping some good guilty pleasure food in the area!
