We had 10 people for dinner, and this was an excellent place to take them. Service was efficient and attentive, but the food...just awesome! Ambience was fun, and there's even a cute little gift shop. Highly recommend.

I dined here this evening with my husband and another couple. We had a lovely table overlooking the river. Interesting menu, all items ordered were perfectly executed. Standouts: halibut, duck 2 ways, donuts. Small but well-curated wine and alcohol list. A meal like this really hit home for me - dining out these days is just a real pleasure. Chefs/owners have upped their game! You can get an excellent meal in a place you wouldnât necessarily be expecting it. Service was good, as well. I would recommend this restaurant not only to people IN Saranac, but to folks in Lake Placid and surrounding towns who are looking for a special evening. Nice restaurant.

I was staying at Gaultier's across the way and decided to give Mckenzie's Grill a shot for a quick breakfast. Just what the doctor ordered, except my doctor would have had me order anything other than the maple and bacon-infused omelette! It was delicious, quick and reasonably priced.Thank you so much for your wonderful review of our restaurant! It's always nice to hear when our customers are enjoying their experience with us! The McKenzie Omelette is one of my favorite things at the restaurant too, it is delicious! We hope that the next time you are in the area you stop in and say hello and maybe try out lunch next time!Sincerely,Heather L

If you're looking for a white-linen dining experience, go somewhere else. If you seek delicious food and well-crafted beer, go to Blue Line! It can get busy and food/drink service can get backed up, but be patient, it's worth it. We stopped in for a few beers and ended up have two epic pizzas. It was so good that we came back again two nights later. Blue Line Brewery will definitely be on our list every visit.

An Adirondack inspired, rustic-industrial tavern serving an eclectic mix of inspired pub cuisine, specialty craft cocktails, local craft beers, in a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
Came here solely for the food.Yes,they have all kinds of neat beers and bourbons-it was their unique menu I was after.I wanted something more than pub food (though they have that, too). Had fried perch (!!)tacos which came w/a small mixed greens salad w/light, sweet dressing, which nicely offset the fish, the spicyness of the mayo and the intense corn flavor of the tortillas. Companion had the pho, with added brisket;brisket had a few fatty spots but overall was spot-on. Starters were burnt ends (smoked) tofu with kimchi , also roasted brussels sprouts with walnuts & shaved parm in a balsamic reduction which was perfectly cooked.I wish the the outside of the bar could get some luvvin' and cleaned up, as well as the inside, as it's kind of beat up and could use a good sanding & coating of polyurethane to make it appear cleaner. I think people might be off-put by the exterior appearance and miss the amazing food inside.Only other drawback is lack of low seating- all the seating is high topped tables or at the bar, and many of the bar stools do not have backs. (Waitress was kind enough to fetch me a stool with a back when I asked, as I have back problems). There is only one bench seat in the corner, but the table is too low to put your legs & feet under. There is more seating up some steep stairs, but it was too hot & stuffy up there. Would definitely be back for more, esp. for those sprouts!! $47 before tax for tofu& kimchi, sprouts, big bowl of pho and 4 fish tacos w/salad. And service was fast and attentive. We went for early dinner at 4:30pm on Saturday.

Stopped for lunch on the way thru town, used Trip Advisor reviews to select Downhill Cafe. We liked the venue located in the middle of town and the tilt toward skiing with the decorations and menu. This is also a much larger restaurant than expected. However, when we stop for sandwiches, fries, onion rings, etc. we are looking for fresh cut fries and hand breaded rings. Upon question, our server insisted that their frozen and fried rings and fries are the âbest in town.âI canât argue the âbest in townâ comment, but were I to stop for lunch again in Saranac Lake, I would again look for hand cut and battered.

Since 1996, a casual place to relax, grab a snack or meal any time of the day or night. Traditional coffee bar, beer and wine and alcohol, specialty baked goods and cheeses. Unique menus & specials. Saranac Lakes best kept secret for evening meals!
This is our go to place whenever we visit Saranac. It's in the heart of Main Street. and most locals frequent there for breakfast and a cup of Deep Woods coffee. The staff is courteous and friendly. The restaurant promotes and sells local artwork hanging on the walls.Thank you for your kind words.

The Red Fox Restaurant serves Steak, Chicken, Seafood, and Pasta entrees. We also have a full bar with wine and beer. We take reservations 7 days a week, we also can accommodate large parties.
Definitely an Adirondack atmosphere. Maybe a little too old fashioned for some.Traditional table service was excellent. Fresh bread, great selections. Our server Beth, explained all the specials, which we eventually ordered the Sirloin special.Service was great, well lit with those funky Fox chandeliers. Clean and accessible. We arrived after 8 pm and it was not too busy, nut still received great food and service. Large restaurant and very Historic to area. Glad we stopped here on our way to Lake Placid.

Daily specials are on line and they take phone or internet orders. Gold star deli!!
