Reviews on American food in Santee, South Carolina, United States. Santee is a town in Orangeburg County along the Santee River Valley in central South Carolina, United States. It has become a resort town of note located centrally north-south along the Atlantic Seaboard of South Carolina. The region has been rural, with a primarily agricultural economy typical of Orangeburg County, but is now known primarily for its several golf courses in proximity to Lake Marion, Santee State Park and other Lake Marion attractions. Interstate 95 connects its attractions easily with tourists traveling by automobile. I-95 crosses a narrow arm of the lake into the town lands, along a causeway. Lake Marion is a man-made hydroelectric reservoir, which at 110,000 acres (450 km2, 173 sq mi) is one of the fifty largest lakes in the country.

While staying at Holiday Inn in Santee we were able to eat dinner in the attached restaurant. Kem's is open to the hotel lobby but is very private at the same time and is a separate business. We were taken to our table that was private which was very nice. Booths, tables and bar. Salad bar in the back. They have specials which I decided to try. I got salmon, salad, string beans, roll and baked potato. The salmon was perfectly cooked and baked potato fresh. My husband ordered a club wrap and onion rings. The onion rings were cooked well and crisp. We both had pepsi products. Meal and service very good and it was nice to not have to get back in the car after a long day of travel. Price of meal with lots of food $30. Great value. I would highly recommend this location to eat if you stay or do not stay at this hotel.

Just ate here. Waitress was really nice but that's the only positive thing I can say. The food was slow to come out and was not good when it did. To make it worse my wife found a huge hair in her food.. the waitress came and took the food and told the owner but he was not even decent enough to walk over and apologize. NOR did he reduce the bill or bring out replacement food for what we sent back.. I cannot believe that the positive reviews we read are real!! This was horrible.

Mid-priced lodgings with in-house restaurants are a dying breed. Ziggy's, located in the Quality Inn & Suites in Santee, is a survivor in a marketplace where free breakfast buffets have taken over full service restaurants.Perhaps the key to Ziggy's longevity is that it offers great food at reasonable cost with great servers. It may not have the delightful elegance or the name recognition of Clark's across the street, but it serves up food just as good at lower prices. My steak and fries dinner was excellent. Lisa, my server, was also exceptional, asking about our trip to Santee (to see the eclipse) and letting us know about the travel conditions leaving town.Ziggy's Bar and Grill isn't much to look at, but the food and service is great and the servers equally so. Whether or not you're staying at the attached Quality Inn, it's well worth a try for dinner (except Sundays), especially if Clark's menu prices seem a bit expensive.

I've heard great things about this place, but couldn't stand the cigarette smoke long enough to try the food out. 1 beer and I was out of there!

Not many places to go in the area, so most everyone comes here for a decent dinner and some entertainment. Food is pretty good but a few menu items need changed. Fried shrimp is one of them. The new fried shrimp breading is terrible. Steak is great, always perfectly cooked. I have an issue with the cover. Itâs WAY too high for the quality of entertainment they get. A terrible band that lip syncs is still $10 a head. Would love to see brunch offered here. Would also like to see comedy night, open mic night, karaoke and trivia night. Iâm kinda tired of beach music.

Off the beaten path but well worth the trip! The atmosphere was authentic with lots of great pictures and old ads to look at. The food was great! GREAT VARIETY! Home cooked! Yummy fried chicken! In fact, I had another chicken leg for dessert! Everything was wonderful! Well seasoned! The Mac/cheese was just like my Mother used to fix! If you like good country cookinâ, you must give this place a try! Highly recommend!

New York style deli with Southern Hospitality! The Best Little Deli on I-95 at Santee, SC Exit 98, go east off exit just 1/8 mile on the left. The Reuben is our specialty! Eat in or Take Out. Sandwich and Wrap platters available. Order ahead.
A quick stop to fend off hanger and let the dog pee. I had the turkey dinner sandwich, and my girlfriend ate my pickles and potato salad. The sandwich reminded me of my grandmaâs cooking (in a good way), and my lady was satisfied by the pickle but noted the potato salad was a bit grainy. The dog emptied his bladder in the grass outside, and we all hit the road happy.

Clark's Restaurant is Santee's Favorite Place for Food & Spirits. A truly exceptional dining experience, Clark's offers guests three beautifully furnished dining rooms including working fireplaces.
When my wife and I drive down to Florida, we always stop here for a good evening's rest and for their southern hospitality. Thay also provide a great dining experience, their food is world class, the service they provide is real honest Southern hospitality! You won't regret stopping for a night or two (or more) and for a great meal! If you stay the night, you will be provided with a real breakfast. Not one of those dry cereal, scrambled powdered eggs, coffee, milk, juice and pastries. Here you get a sit down, order from a menu, honest breakfast with fresh coffee, juice, toast or home made biscuits, gravy (if you wish), eggs to order, bacon or sausage (just like what you would have in your home), real butter, jam, and the service is great! The breakfast is included in the cost of the room!! You will find that Clark's has an atmosphere very similar to an old, southern style, posh golf club or sports club. every time we visit there are always numerous people there to golf or go fishing (they have a lot of fishing contests and golf tournaments locally).

Half Restaurant. Half Store. All Country
We pulled up and this place was over run with senior citizens! We decided to wait the 20 minutes they quoted us which was actually only 5. Good food and good meal but man, this chain is a magnet for the 65+ crowd!Good service and good food. Only issue was one small child a few tables over that kept yelling. Everyone thought it was so cute. Annoying, not cute! Other than that place was very good.

Service was very good. Prompt and friendly. We had the Swai (Basa fish) and fried shrimp. The Swai was good the shrimp were mediocre at best (although there were about a dozen 25-30 size - more than enough). In general, it was a good meal for an overnight stay at a local hotel while in transit.
