Nestled in the rolling hills of the Catskills, we are centrally located 5 minutes from Phoenicia, 15 minutes from Woodstock or Belleayre ski slopes and 25 minutes from Saugerties or Hunter Mountain. We have a full bar and restaurant featuring French-Ameri
We went this past weekend to celebrate our anniversary, all anticipation. The setting is wonderful -- in.a secluded wooded spot, a large circular drive, surrounded by huge old trees. It's got an historic feeling, like pre-war Europe with flocked wallpaper and antique chandeliers. But we were very disappointed in the food. I should say, some of the dishes. They were simply uninspired, seemingly thrown together by a harried housewife (or husband). My husbands dishes were better than mine -- the stuffed shrimp was pretty good as were the chicken livers he reported. But the grilled peaches came out cold, the salad was enormous, and just weird looking and not too tasty, and same goes for the pasta dish. Enormous and utterly flat, So sorry to have to write this. I'm writing In Hopes though that the restaurant owners will read this and consider hiring a good chef. There's romance here, a long history. so much potential!

Great food, great service and a wonderful view while dining outside on the deck. The inside has a nice bar and nice decor, but the back deck is a lovely place for a drink or a meal.

Ate here several times over the last couple years. Not sure if he is open any longer due to cones in the driveways. (tried to go two weeks ago) Foo, especially the specials were excellent! Great steaks and seafood! Owner prides himself in quality cuts and portions. The mashed potatoes were awesome!

Woodnotes and the Emerson Inn are only 4 minutes from our place in Mount Tremper, so we come here frequently. The ambience is great, wait-staff are very pleasant, efficient, and courteous, and the specialty cocktails are terrific. And the food is all locally-sourced, expertly prepared, and beautifully presented - the steak is tender and delicious, the trout is fantastic, and the roast chicken is succulent. Desserts are also locally sourced - you can't miss with Woodnotes!Thank you for taking the time to write this wonderful review! We are so glad you enjoy your experiences with us at Woodnotes Grille and value your frequent visits. Your kind words about our food and staff are amazing and we look forward to welcoming you back again soon!BestNaomiEmerson Resort & Spa CEO

Took my wife for a session and massage at the Emerson Spa, and needed a lunch break. We ate at the Spa a few days ago so looked for something new, On a September Tuesday, very few choices open, so headed to the Cantina. Very nice and friendly; we ate outside with our dog on the patio. My fried chicken sandwich was hearty and delicious. My wife had a chicken burrito which was enormous ! The waitress could not have been more accommodating and even brought out a bowl of water for our dog. The food was good basic fare, and we could have not enjoyed ourselves more. GIANT bar and lots of seating inside.

Craft beers & cocktails, a smart wine list, and a seasonal menu that reflects a strong "farm to table" philosophy. Tavern 214 is set in the bucolic Catskill Mountains, just a few steps from the Stony Clove Creek. Dine outdoors on the covered patio or cozy
We dined here on a Friday evening. The place was reasonably busy. Lighting was subdued and atmosphere was pleasant. Seating was at tables and chairs and there was a well stocked bar. Decor was predomantly dark timber rustic feel. Prompt friendly service. Menus and water provided and drink orders taken. There were four in our party and we each had some difficulty in selecting something to our liking from the menu. Orders were taken and food arrived in a timely manner. Presentation was good. Quality and quantity were fine as were the flavours. The wine list was comprehensive. We felt that both food and drink prices were on the high side. An interesting dining experience but we think we would explore elsewhere before returning.

Their oyster appetizer was good, the barmaid was overworked and took forever to get served (not her fault), wine list was marginal, back bar was great, scallops were over cooked and mealy. They had an obvious fishy taste. The rice was tasteless. The spinach tasted like fish as well. The atmosphere was great. Being here on Independence Day week, I expected fresh seafood. I will give the place a second chance.

Pancakes seem to be the thrill at this place and I'm sure they live up to the hype. I went for the pecan french toast which was amazing and abundant. Coffee was really good as well. The waitress offered me fruit atop my french toast, and I said sure. She then let me know that if I wanted a bowl of fruit on the side, it would be $4 extra, but if I just wanted them on top, it's only $2 extra. OK. I get it, local and organic- it all cost more, I went for the $2 option. Then she asked if I wanted fresh syrup (of course I do!) but that would be extra as well. The other option was the "sugary table syrup, but it's up to you". My guy and I were chuckling at this point. It was a little bit of a put-off, and although the food was good. I think we'll go to the Phoenician Diner next time we are in the area. I don't think the bill will be $40 for breakfast!

Very convenient place if you stay in Phoenicia. This place is two restaurants really, they share menus and serve pizza as well as mexican type food but also burgers, salmon etc, anything you like really, you find it here. Coupled with excellent service and affordable prices, makes it very convenient so we came here two nights in a row and were not disappointed.
