We had Lake Superior Trout and Lake Perch in a fish fry dinner with home made potato chips, cole slaw and pine cones (deep fried mashed potatoes reminiscent of hush puppies). Somewhat plan dining room, but the view to the lake is spectacular, especially at sunset. Courteous service and a great North Woods value. Free WiFi for the conversationally impaired.
"The Frontier Restaurant" has new owners. Since they have re-opened, we have had several opportunities to try their menu at different times and occasions. The service has been friendly and prompt. The kitchen isn't always that prompt. They have wonderful home-made soup daily as well as a variety of sandwiches and specials. We had the Friday night fish fry. Everything was very good. We ordered baked fish and the deep fried fish, with coleslaw, marble rye bread and a choice of French Fries, potato salad, sweet potato fries or baked sweet potato. At this time, they are open for breakfast on weekends. However, as a new business I would check first. Their phone number is 715-583-4413

My stomach hurts... but it's self-inflicted. We just caught brunch at the shanty which was homemade and filling. The two pieces of pie afterwards were not necessary but they were soooo necessary. The young staffers seemed a bit inexperienced but tried hard and were very friendly.
We have only come here in the winter via snowmobiles( usually mid afternoon) So it's a great place to relax among other snowmobiles that's for sure! The staff is always friendly! My husband only gets their Cubano sandwich & he loves it! I've had chicken sandwiches, but I also had a full salad of mixed greens with craisins & pecans plus a grilled chicken breast & it was so good. Our kids ordered wings (my son loved them) & a sausage pizza (thin crust which we prefer over a thick crust). We say we need to drive here in the summer, but it is more fun taking the snowmobiles!
Off the beaten path, this small tavern is worth the drive! There are only 2 tables, and food is also served at the bar.I enjoyed the fantastic pan fried Walleye dinner, as well as the Packers hash browns. Dinner is worth the wait. Gorgeous views of the lake and a friendly staff were the proverbial frosting on the cake!

This is a great place to dine. We go there as often as possible when in the area. They have fantastic choices on their Friday night Seafood Buffet, but also have great steaks soon their menu, great pizzas plus they had a super Thanksgiving Buffet. They have good mixed drinks as well.It would be difficult to pick a favorite menu item because we are always pleased.

We were on vacation in the Park Falls area and found this restaurant. It is a very comfortable, homey restaurant with really great service and food. The burgers were really good and we were hoping to try the amazing pies but were just too full. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Didn't have the breakfast but I bet it would be great! This is a great place to go if you are in that area.

We visited this cafe several years ago during a previous trip and I had hoped it was still open when we returned to Park Falls 07/16/17 for a family gathering. I was pleased to find that it was still operating and the food was as delicious as I remembered. My husband and I both had the special... French toast with giant, fresh blueberries for $3.99! The restaurant is spotless, the service was prompt and the coffee was fresh brewed. On Sunday there were many locals hanging out lazily planning their day. It was like a scene from Norman Rockwell! If you like to experience local fare, then avoid the urge to settle for the local restaurant on the main drag. Drive a little further into the downtown area and enjoy The Pal Cafe!

Small rural hamlet diner
When we stopped at Kountry Kafe last year it was for a quick bowl of soup and an ice cream cone - both excellent. We were especially pleased at the availability for parking our camper right across the street. If you're just thirsty, there's a full liquor bar as you walk in, with family-style seating beyond that - away from the bar. This year, we stopped for a full lunch as we had a bit of time. The menu was typical of a small town cafe but we were in sticker shock over the prices! We hadn't noticed that last year. Our tab for 2 cups of soup, a tuna melt, a BLT and one glass of soda was $20 plus tip. The cups of soup were miniscule, no chips or pickle or anything with the sandwiches and the waitress never stopped by for the one free refill of soda. The tuna wasn't even that good - it tasted tinny and kind of sour (but perhaps that was the cheese); you could tell the tuna was the cheap chunk variety. The bread toasted up amazing, though - it was crispy and buttery. The chicken dumpling soup was deLICIOUS. We enjoyed the ubiquitous scoop of spread cheese and saltines that appear as a free appetizer in so many Wisconsin restaurants. Another amazing price was $4.95 for a burger - that's all, just a regular sized no frills burger - and an additional $3 if you added an order of fries. To us, those prices belong in a different class of restaurant. Fifield is a convenient stop for lunch on this particular camping trip every year but the next stop won't be at Kountry Kafe.

Had supper there. One of the places recommended by the place where we are staying. The staff were very friendly. The place clean. The staff waited on us right away. I had a salad with chicken and my husband had French toast with ham. Food was tasty. That night my husband had significant diarrhea. Maybe itâs a coincidence but the timing is right to get it from the food. Hope staff are washing their hands.
