Subdued lighting and European deco perfect for our special night out. Plenty of light to read menus by. Chicken piccata was seasoned to perfection and hubby's shrimp very meaty. Nice selection of cocktails. Prices a little on the high side, but service and flavor worth it. Soup that night was stuffed pepper. Unusual, but oh sooo good. Came with two giant, soft breadsticks for the two of us. Someone was already booking a party for New Years Eve. Would return to try something else. Closed on Mondays. Open at 5 p.m. and close at 8:30 during week. Kids menu available. Separate bar area.

Itâs hard to believe when you pull up to this place what you might be about to experience. We had been there about 12 years ago and it hasnât changed much. We had escargot and Oysters Rockefeller for appetizers. My wife had veal Marsala and I had a petite filet (not so petite) and lobster tail. Food was perfectly cooked. The owner stopped by a couple of times to see how everything was. It is a bit pricey but you get more than you pay for. Service was friendly, helpful and above standard. This is a very casual place where the food and service would make you think it was a coat and tie establishment.

The four of us decided to go here for breakfast. Most had the Old Timers, but I always get the baked apples, cheesy potatoes and biscuit. I order tea because I am not fond of their coffee. There weren't too many in the restaurant so the noise level was minimal. The waitress was very attentive as I have always found them to be in Cracker Barrel. It is always a place to go and know just what I am getting.

The HiWay Restaurant is your go-to stop for good food and cold drinks in Ottawa Illinois. Located close to Starved Rock State Park and local attractions, we offer family dining with great service! We serve steak, seafood, chops, and chicken, cocktails, bee
Immediate service being seated, waited on and a very efficient kitchen in getting meals out to their customers. We select it often as it is inexpensive and has a 'senior menu' which is excellent in both choices and prices. Hard to beat in this area of Illinois!

The Cheese Shop is the kind of place that reminds you of why you moved to a small town. On a cold winters day, the fact that all their products are exceptional may some how take a back seat to the warm and inviting atmosphere of being in a place where most people know your name and are eager to converse with you and wish you well. If youâre into Italian imported meats and cheeses, and also dried goods, there is not a better place within50 miles of this location. I love their hot cheese and roast beef sandwiches and there soups are always interesting and delicious. But most of all, I love that welcoming feeling when I walk through the door.

They don't seem to have a website when I tried "googling" them. Our waitress said that they've been there for 2-1/2 years, though.
Excellent meal, great service for a reasonable price. The seafood pasta was loaded with seafood in a tasty sauce. The tuna salad was cooked perfectly and delicious. The restaurant section was quiet and comfortable. Will definitely return the next time we're in the area.

While traveling through the area we stopped for an early dinner and we weren't disappointed. The staff was very friendly, quick service, with a huge fresh salad bar, a variety of different breads you cut the size you want and several blocks of cheese to enjoy. The food was delicious and it was more than I could eat. Thanks so much for the great comments! We are so pleased you enjoyed your visit & hope you stop by again on your next trip, Happy travels!

My husband's exact words..."Where else can you get world class sushi and an excellent burger with Doritoes on it??". We just left and I felt compelled to write a review. We visited Starved Rock for the day and just winged it on dinner. Drove up and down the streets of Ottawa, and saw the cool wooden sign for B.A.S.H. parked and came in. I was wowed the moment we walked in with the sleek decor and relaxing couch to wait for a table. Love the menu. I had a burger with coleslaw, pulled pork, cheese, BBQ sauce, and yes, Doritoes!! My husband had sushi and a burger. I have to say, one of the best burgers I have had!! My son had an amazing create your own Mac and cheese. To top it off, we had their awesome donut dessert!! Server, Madison, was adorable and absolutely perfect!!

Family Restaurant, Breakfast-Lunch-Dinner
We visited on a Saturday night and were seated immediately. The menu is extensive and prices are reasonable. Our server was pleasant and attentive. I had sweet and sour chicken stir fry, my husband ordered off the senior menu, which included pudding or ice cream for dessert. Our food was good, not out of this world, but good. We will not hesitate to stop here again when traveling on I-80.

We stopped in here for a late lunch after hiking at Starved Rock State Park which is about 15 minutes from Ottawa. It was busy, but we were seated right away. The hostess who seated us seemed tired and not very friendly. She seated us at a low table near the tasting room when there were several open comfortable high top tables. We asked to move to another table before we sat down and this seemed to make her more tired. She sat us at a two person high top table with comfortable chairs by the bar which was great. The server was very friendly and helpful and told us about the beer we were thinking about trying. It was the vermillion River $5 for 16 oz and very good.We ordered the three little pigs- bbq pork sliders which were so good and the sausage and bacon flatbread which was also very good. Iâm sure they get quality meat from a meat market because the sausage and bacon were delicious.I still gave this five stars even though the hostess greeting was lacking in the â friendly glad you came to our restaurant ââ-hopefully, she was just having an off day.
