We have had the delight of visiting the Red Anchor Inn on several occasions and it is always good--service, food, atmosphere, etc. Last night was no exception. A local high school was celebrating homecoming and the restaurant was very busy. Initially, we were told a 10-15 minute wait and we were good with thatâ¦about five minutes later the owner came over and said, "I've got a table for you now!" He did a little juggling with table placement and we were in, seated and enjoying drinks and dinner. By the way, the chicken burrito was delish! Red Anchor Inn is at the top of the list for our local favorite!

Stopped here for dinner with a party of 6. We were seated immediately. The ladies of the group chose the outdoor seating. Only time will tell why no one else was outside. The group was attacked by mosquitos and bees. Our waitress Tayler was awesome though and found us a table indoors. I had the chicken wings which came 10 to a order. I got 2 different sauces and both were good. Order of fries were just alright. They were not hot but just barely warm. The entrée salad was very good though. It was a side salad and the blue cheese dressing was Excellant. Everyone else had something different and all were happy with their meals. I would definitely go back. In my travels to Michigan I usually don't find their restaurants really good. If you go to Northern Trails make sure you ask for Tayler.

The stalwart kitchen shop and lunch venue is now open for dinner Fridays and Saturdays. Terrie Ortwein is very creative in her menu selection. Friday night my wife had crab cakes with a fresh citrus salsa. I ordered the pasta carbonara which had delicious chunks of pork belly to round out the flavor. We shared a blistered grape salad that included blue cheese and toasted walnuts. Wish we had room for one of the spectacular desserts. We enjoyed an appropriate wine with our dinner. Weâve also enjoyed a wonderful smoked salmon chowder that is very memorable. Itâs worth a trip to Newaygo. Be sure to visit the interesting shops nearby.

Over easy eggs cooked in water and poached all to hell - tasteless, sausage links have no casing and taste like a sawdust beef mixture, toast was covered in an unctuous yellow oil pretending to be butter... limp gray hash browns, everything was cold and looking old... I am serious... avoid, there are many other options... a day old egg muffin from speedway down the road would be way better and that is a frightful realization

We were in town for an event and asked a local clerk at one of the shops what the best restaurant nearby was. She named the Sportsman's Bar, so we headed there despite reading some of the negative reviews. We weren't disappointed. Our server was extremely friendly and attentive to us and the food was good! We choose two specials off the menu and they were huge portions! A giant plate of three differently prepared shrimp and salad for me and a giant steak, potato and soup and salad for the hubby. The prices were no different than anywhere else for that type of meal. We paid around $50 for all of that plus two cocktails. I didn't get our waitress' name, but she was a very friendly blonde lady.

Prompt service waitresses very friendly and eager to serve., hot and tasty food, decent portion for price, and an excellent view of the lake. Nicely remodeled. Highly recommend. Anything you need if they have it it's yours.

Came here with 2 other couples for dinner. Waitress led us on that we could order fries, onion rings or mushrooms for the same price. NOT. Mushrooms were $2.99 more. Another couple ordered a Chimichonga. They were charged extra for the little cup of sour cream and guacamole? My wife's Mojito came to the table and was extremely sweat only to find out they forgot to put the fruit (Limes, Lemons) in it. Another couple had only one of there orders brought to the table. When asked what had happened they said the order had been dropped on the computer? More like you forgot to place the order with the kitchen. The food we had was average at best. I have had much better Rueben sandwiches at other places. This was our first shot at this place nd probably the last. Sorry Jimmy's, get it together.

I had lunch here on a Saturday with friends who were on a fall color tour.. We didn't find much color but we found good food and beer at this pub. The Mac 'n Cheese is easily the best I have had in along time. A friend enjoys their meatball sliders. They let me taste a few beers on the menus as well. This was a really good lunch before the pub got too busy. Highly recommended.

Beautiful views. Lots of specials not on the menu such as blintzes, French toast, unique salads. Had the squash bisque with sausage which came with home made toast. The homemade pastie. Breakfast looked good. Specialty coffees. Bring cash no credit cards. We will be back. Worth the drive and you can bidi the Muskegon River and Croton Dam.

I have been going here for about 5 years and I have never been disappointed. Great specials and homemade soups. Love the coffee and treats too. I never leave feeling stuffed or hungry. Sunday brunch with Jennifer serving is always a pleasure. I would give it 5 stars but it is a little pricey for some, it's worth it to us but it does add up when I bring the whole family. Definitely try it out on your way through Newaygo.
