Recently relocated and reopened in the building formerly occupied by the Sweet Thyme Cafe. Sweet Thyme closed after flooding from Hurricane Irene in Summer 2011
Schoharie is a charming town in the Schoharie Valley and is a good focal point for scenic drives and antiquing. The Country Cafe is a simple, homey spot with excellent service and food that is fresh, high quality and surprisingly varied for a small dining spot. The fresh desserts and especially the pies are a big attraction for locals but what draws me back is the selection of well constructed sandwiches like the fresh apple and turkey that is moist and flavorful. The breakfast selection is standard country fare (eggs, hash, etc) prepared with a very personal and skillful touch). The real tip-off about the quality of the food at Country Cafe? For me it was the expertly cooked French fries and sweet potato fries and the quality of the bread they used for the sandwiches. Service is also excellent - this is a great find for a quick and high quality meal.

Our group of six stopped on a Friday for lunch. We wanted a quiet, restful atmosphere, a light meal with quality and excellence in service. The staff was very attentive. This is more of an adult place, tea and sandwich sort of place. The decor is full of antiques and we enjoyed the relaxed moment. There is a gift shop of interesting items just off the entry. Looking for a meal with Mom, or your favorite Aunt - this is the place. It is a destination place! Looking for good wine, the wine cellar out back is fun.Thank you Jack for your review and for stopping in to visit us! We are happy you enjoyed lunch in our Bistro and shopping on all 3 floors along with wine tasting in our Wine Cellar. We hope you will be back to visit us again. Thank you for leaving a review and letting everyone about your experience.

A friend and I went for a ride to Apple Barrel Cafe and Gift Shop and had a wonderful time! Our lunch was fabulous, and we had lots of fun shopping in there well-stocked gift shop. Wonderful variety of lovely items!! Every employee that we encountered were more than helpful and very pleasant. Can't wait for our next trip!
The food here is nothing short of fantastic. And itâs different being all outdoor seating which is nice when the weather cooperates. For the price and the flavor, you really canât go wrong by stopping here Thanks so much for your valued comment, as it means the world to me....:)
There is no place in schoharie county that can compare with the size or quality of the servings here and the food is awesome too and pricing is great
Although I do like local diners, I just got a bad vibe when we walked in. I didn't think that they wanted 'foreigners' inside (although I've been a temporary resident of the town for over 20 years!) don't know how the food is now (last time I ate here was 18 years ago when smoking was allowed inside and overpowered the place. Not for me, but the people who live here truly enjoy this diner and so I have to assume that the food is good
My dog, my friend and I spent the morning hiking Vroman's Nose and wanted a little something to eat before heading home. The day was spectacular, and we loved the hike. Mona's was a perfect place to grab a fresh and really affordable lunch to wrap up the day. We both had the tuna plate, which was just perfect. Mona was very sweet and her restaurant is adorable and clean. Nothing fancy here, just good food, great prices and friendly service.
Grabbed some BBQ with the family the other night for dinner. I shared a platter (ribs, brisket, pulled pork, salted taters, cole slaw) with one of my kids. We also ordered the pulled pork quesadillas, loaded potato and mac-n-cheese (which had a little kick) and some sodas. 2 adults and 2 kids came out to $50. Overall, the quality and taste was good. Yeah, you're paying a little more than other fast food joints, but this is BBQ, not a hot dog or quick burger...and worth the money. Looking forward to returning.

Nice staff, average food, priced right. They do NOT take credit cards, which is a drawback when traveling.

Enter this old converted house to see various rooms and a quaint bar area. Service was excellent and the food was exceptional. The Pork Belly Slider appetizer was delicious. In my party of five the Cajun shrimp over grits was a popular dinner choice. I had the meatloaf which had incorporated cheese and bacon into the loaf. It was served with lumpy mashed potatoes which I loved and sauteed brussel sprouts which were excellent. It was only open until 8 pm on the Thursday evening we visited but that was fine for us. I will return whenever I am in the area. Just note that bread on the table costs extra.
