Things to do in Metropolis
Being from the area, decided to stop in 7/14/18 since I had a few minutes before an appointment. Young teen was very sweet at the window. I liked that I was able to pull up, make an order, and sit in my truck while waiting. Overall, plenty of toppings and better than expected quality hotdog. I rarely eat hotdogs (personal reasons) and when I do, I am very picky about hotdogs. I was very surprised the taste was good. It was not a tiny size either. I don't recall the name of the kind I chose but it had saureqraut, onions, and spicy mustard. Possibly in the future they can have more selection of toppings.
Was traveling with family and looking for a great local business to support, so glad we found Super City bar & grill. The food was amazing and the atmosphere just as impressive. The wait staff was very helpful and polite, made us feel very welcome on our trip!!!

The casino was fun but the food at the buffet was terrible. My husband and I left hungry. All of the dishes were either dry, cold, greasy, or over cooked. We didnât even try the salad because it was wilted and discolored. This location had just reopened due to the ohio river flooding. It appeared to us that the food served was probably left over from the evening before they shut down almost a month prior.
This diner is located at the entrance of Harrah's casino.
Just wanted a quick sandwich or light meal. We both ordered hot dogs which were hard and wrinkled because they were microwaved, not steamed or roasted. The fries were good - hot and crisp. But this snack bar doesnât meet usual Harrahâs standards.

This place has S L O W service. The food is good but... They have a salad I love. I always call my order in for pick-up so that I don't have to wait 10-15 minutes at the window. I did so the other day and as I got there a truck had just placed their order and was pulling forward I hoped they would see it was me and either run the salad out or ask the truck to pull forward. Staff seemed to know the truck driver as three different staff had personal conversations with him. They saw me but never asked the truck to pull forward. I waited 15 minutes. I won't do that again no matter how good the salad is.

We're Always Cookin' There's something about a freshly made meal, prepared just for you. Maybe it's a waffle sundae to celebrate the day you get your braces off, or a plate full of loaded hash browns after a Saturday morning soccer game. Whatever the occa
I had a ham and cheese omelette. It was great. Grits were hot and great. Coffee and service was excellent

I noticed in a previous review that Bill's has maybe changed their sauce? It could be since I thought there was something different this time.My grandparents used to get Bill's when we visited Metropolis decades ago. They'd also get several pounds and bring it out east when they visited. It was always a highlight of the trip.We were in Metropolis for a family reunion and got several pounds of the pulled pork to go. I think the sauce may be a reason it tasted different. Also, I think someone said they ordered the "less fat" option. I didn't even know that existed. It wasn't my favorite, in any case. You need the bark and char sprinkled in.The meat was very tender but almost too soft, if that makes any sense. Cole slaw was fine, nothing great. The potato salad was very good.Maybe I'm remembering the "good ol' days" when I'd eat four sandwiches in a row. But it didn't do it for me like it used to. However, in two years when I'm back in Metropolis, I'll be showing up again to give it a try.

I stopped in while staying at Harrah's Metropolis. Prime beef and aged. (not sure if wet / dry aged or how long) The 14 oz ribeye was cooked to perfection and the crabcake appetizer was sizzling hot off the grill. The service was very friendly. Lots to choose from if you don't want steak.

We decided to check Fat Edd's out after reading the reviews in Trip Advisor. It is in a great old building...lots of personality. My husband had the Philly Cheese Steak and was very pleased...lots of meat, well prepared. I had the Bacon Cheese Burger... very good....a wonderful grilled taste...HUGE....I only ate about 3/4 of it. The only thing that was a bit disappointing would be the french fries, they were pretty undercooked...so I really didn't enjoy them. We got there at just the right time...no waiting...but as we were being served our dinner...in the door came 2 complete sports teams and their families!!! The line went out the door and around the corner!!! It is popular with the local folks so that is always a great recommendation!!!!

We stop in Paducah several times a year. We decided to try Stricklands based upon reviews and were not disappointed. The restaurant is small, maybe a converted C store. Neighborhood and building not so much but excellent dinner and obviously local favorite. Staff were friendly and efficient. Food was mostly fried but very good. They have small plate early bird platters before 4 or 5 pm. Best check. I had the Harris platter: fried shrimp, coconut shrimp, clams strips, catfish, and hush puppies. All very good. My wife had fried Cod. Also lightly breaded and very good. They have full bar and brag about Margaritas. Back to Floridaâs Gulf Coast.
