I have been coming here for 27 years. I have had very good servers over the years. But by far to me the best is Rhonda. She does not let your coffee cup even a 1/4 down before she is refilling it. She remembers everything you say without writing it down. I love her.

Neumanns Bar

Our claim to fame is that we're the oldest bar in Minnesota. Well, there are a couple of other saloons in the state that are older, but they've had to close at one time or another. Neumanns has never closed.

Well known and established breakfast spot. The food is reliable – hot, relatively fast and pretty darn good. There is nothing fancy here. While ordering at the counter, we asked for a recommendation and the woman taking our order, told us about the house made sausage. She was right – it was worth the trip alone. Eggs cooked as ordered and lots of potatoes accompany most dishes. Good coffee. For a big breakfast in St. Paul, consider the Buttered Tin.

Up in the cities for the holiday weekend. Decided to have supper at Jake’s. Service was excellent and very helpful . Tried the chicken chopped salad. Good size, very fresh and delicious. The bread stick was warm when we got them. Definitely would order this again.

I've been wanting to check this place out for awhile now and finally stopped in last weekend. I arrived a little after noon and was craving breakfast still. The dining room isn't large although it has an upscale feel, the metal chairs could easily be knocked over by a heavy coat. We were seated at a table close to the front door, and the draft is noticeable when the door opens - sending shivers up and down you. Their menu isn't huge and several of the options looked straight from an American diner menu, while others had a definite Korean flare. I had the short ribs eggs Benedict ($14) and my friend had the Mac and Chi ($12). I found the short ribs on the eggs benedict a miss, and think they are trying too hard to add a Korean flare. The short rib meat is delicious but just didn't add that salty savory taste a classic piece of Canadian bacon does. My friend loved the Mac and Chi, while i sampled it and found it a little too spicy and underwhelming - So we canceled each other out in our opinions. It's nice to see an upscale option on Payne Avenue and the east side, just not sure I will be a regular. My friend on the other hand, may have just found a new home. The only other downside is with all of the hard surfaces, the restaurant can get a little loud, this was exacerbated by one of the staff folding silverware in the back table.

Stopped at D-Spot after hearing about them in a conversation at Voyageuer Brewing Company in Grand Marais, Minnesota.I drove 35 minutes out of my way and it was well worth it! By far, the best wing place I have been to! Fresh ingredients, great service, and a clean restaurant. Average prices are $7 for 6 wings or $12 for 12 wings. Some are a bit more, but make no mistake....totally worth it. This is best bang for the buck! They have great tap beers and serve Minnesota sodas.... no Pepsi or Coke.I will be back each time I'm in the Twin Cities! I should have bought a shirt so I could advertise for them! Yes....wings are that good!

This is the place to be! The last few month I have been saying I want a place I am excited to go back to! THIS IS IT! The food was amazing! We never have dessert and we got it just because the other food was soooo good! Two words: pulled bacon! Mouth watering BLT. The shrimp and grits special going on was also amazing! Their homemade chips with onion dill dip is with the extra charge! The cookie cart ice cream sandwich finished off the most delicious food I have had in many months! Staff is friendly and made from scratch food! Great beer selection and cozy location to just hang out with friends and family!

Gulden's 61 Restaurant & Bar

Just off very busy Highway 61 popularly known as car dealer row because of all the dealerships for several miles on this highway. I have been to Gulden's a few times for business meetings and a party, so I was always in the banquet room downstairs and only had their buffet offerings. This time my wife and I decided to stop in here for lunch and have a chance to order off the regular menu. Nothing too exciting on the menu, mostly traditional diner offerings. I had the Reuben Sandwich and had to pay extra to get a side of waffle chips. My wife had the Quesadilla Appetizer. Both pretty ordinary and generally bland. I would imagine most of the frequent lunch clientele here enjoys the food. Most are senior citizens from nearby apartments. Makenna was our server and she was fine with no complaints. She asked if I wanted their seasoned sour cream but never said it was at an extra cost. I guess some places like to nickel-dime you to make the tab larger. I see no reason to ever make a point of stopping here again.

Tongue in Cheek

Some folks had been partying and were on the loud side. My wife and I were there on a Sunday night. Interesting neighborhood, interesting people looked in the window at our dinner. My chicken and waffles appetizer was enough for a supper...but the chicken wasn't fried chicken, it was like breaded from frozen. No salt shaker on the table and my food needed it. My wife liked her whole fish. So, it is not intimate and it is not fine food.
