We lived in Lynchburg years ago, and Main Street Eatery was our favorite restaurant. Urs and Michelle Gabathuler produced the finest cuisine in the Hill City with a European flair and a creative touch. Mind you, Urs was crusty, but he was a splendid chef.Returning for a visit, we wanted to go back to Main Street for a visit. When we discovered that Urs had retired and longtime assistant Wendy Williams had taken over, we were disappointed. We shouldnât have been, because our meal was extraordinary, and at a fraction of the prices we were accustomed to in DC.The rabbit liver appetizer in cream and onion was superb, and the salads were as we remembered. My wifeâs steak frites was quite good, but my Williamsburg filet was to die for. And where else in the US can you get cold Spaten on tap. What a great meal!Lynchburg, seriously, you do not realize what you have in this restaurant. You didnât back then, and you donât now. Wendy should move it to Northern Virginia, where sheâd have reservations booked out for a month.Highly recommended!

OUR FOOD IS FOCUSED ON WHAT TASTES GREAT WITH BEER AND FRIENDS â THINK: RAW OYSTERS, HOUSE-MADE FRIES, GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICHES, SHARABLE APPS AND FRESH BAKED COOKIES â ALL MADE IN-HOUSE. What weâre trying to do â we think â is pretty simple: bring toget
So many delicious things, like deep fried pretzels with beer cheese and mustard, the sweet potato fries are heavenly but my favorite was the seared tuna tacos. So yummy! our server made excellent recommendations and was fantastic (Forest) I will definitely go back! Thanks for such a kind review! I hope you come see us again!

The William & Henry Steakhouse brings together two seasoned steakhouse operators 60 combined years of fine dining experience to offer an exceptional menu in an elegant new venue in The Virginian Hotel in Downtown Lynchburg. Named after the operatorsâ fath
Had an early dinner on a summer Saturday evening with one dining companion. A reservation saw us ushered immediately to a nearby booth which was cozy so we werenât able to get a feel for the overall ambience of the restaurant. Drinks and dinner moved along at a relaxed but attentive pace. Favorites were steaks (filets for both), gnocchi and desserts (Apple Brown Betty and Creme Brûlée). Steaks were cooked perfectly with a lovely flavor; gnocchi was a playful presentation with bacon and cheddar served to a gnocchi lover. Less that favorites were Tuna Poke - the texture of the fish was soft and seemed wrong; Caesar Salad was slightly overdressed but tasty; Crab Stuffed Mushrooms were generously stuffed with crab but nothing else (seasoning was absent). Overall, this was a pleasant dining experience and we will be back to try more of the tempting dishes. We recommend this restaurant.

Market at Main serves breakfast all day and was recently named the Best Breakfast in Lynchburg by Lynchburg Living.
We visited here for dinner. It was probably one of the worst meals I have ever had. A few of us ordered the meatloaf. The meatloaf was some of the worst I have ever eaten. It was about a 1/4 inch thick and was served in a crumbly mess on the plate. Evidently, it was heated on the grill because it was charred on all side, which caused it to dry out and crumble. It was a mess. Vegetables were overcooked and mushy. I ordered the fried chicken. I was expected bone in pieces of chicken....maybe a breast, leg, thigh, etc. Instead, I was served overcooked and dry pieces of chicken breast that were so overcooked it was inedible. It was like eating shoe leather. They ran out of mashed potatoes, which I was told as he was serving my plate. I ordered the apple sauce as a replacement, thinking at least that didn't to be cooked and was safe. Nope. It tasted so much like metal that it must have been stored in the refridgerator for weeks. Again, inedible. All this cost $80 for 4 people. We were offered a discount after we complained, but we did have to go somewhere else for a meal afterwards.

We've lived in Lynchburg for almost 5 years, and have never been so we decided to finally try it. They had a sandwich board outside advertising two cocktails. When we were seated, there was a table tent with another featured cocktail. An image of the character, Deadpool holding a martini glass in front of a bottle of Aviation gin, with the text "Shaken, no slurred. Ask your server about our Deadpool cocktail!" I was intrigued, so I did. She was clueless beyond that the drink was made with Aviation gin. Great guest service, Megan. I ordered the "Summer Collins" - featured on the outside board. It was not what I expected. Made with coconut water, and lacking anything to cut that sweetness. Not sure who came up with the recipe, it was a disappointment. We ordered the pimento crab dip appetizer, "Red pepper seasoned cheese dip loaded with lump crab & Louisiana hot sauce, served with flat bread & tortilla chips" - Umm. No lumps of crab (we could taste crab, though), NO hot sauce. Not on top, not mixed in that we could taste. The dip was cheesy, but needed that punch of heat. By the time our server came back around to check on us (so we could request hot sauce) we had finished it - we were hungry. We ordered entrees and waited. Our food took FOREVER, though Megan did stop by to continue to tell us that our food would be right out. Really. Coming right out. In a few minutes. When our meals arrived we were satisfied. All the food looked amazing. The portions were BIG for the price. My trout was an entire large fillet, enough for two people, topped with shrimp, scallops, and a lovely crab cake. My daughter's grilled primavera looked lovely and she was happy with it. Hubby got the BBQ mac and cheese. Also a winner. Our food was wonderful. The start of our meal was a bit rocky with the server issues. All three of us took home leftovers. We will likely return.

You may feel like you're entering a speakeasy through our lower level entrance, but you'll know you're home when you sample our brews and burgers. Enjoy our relaxed, warm, but modern dining area for a weekday dinner or weekend celebration.
Bootleggers is popular for a reason! The food is great! But there's almost always a wait. We try to hit it most times we're in Lynchburg, but unless you have the whole evening to spend, you might want to go in the off-hours.Hey friend, thank you so much for being a big Bootleggers supporter! We appreciate your visits and are so glad you enjoy our food. We are looking forward to your return in the future.

I will say of the 4 dishes we had at our table only 1 seemed to be really enjoyed. I ordered filet with shrimp cream sauce (it was more sirloin quality/either over cooked or not a good cut) the sauce and shrimp was good. Husband ordered seafood platter or whatever and crab cakes were mushy, fish was ok, Brussel sprouts were gross-soggy. Friends had sirloin (was ok but dry) but her husbands meal was good. He had the jerk chicken and ate all of his meal and sides. Filet was very disappointing though. Same price as other places and was not the same quality. Artichoke dip and chips were good though- no photos cause kinda disappointing visit. I will still go again and give another try.

Casual dining at its finest. Waterstone fire roasted pizza is not your average pizza joint. Offering the best in fresh ingredients. Appetizers, gourmet salads, pastas, sandwiches, pizza and desserts wash down perfectly with our very own Jefferson Street B
This is our go-to eatery when we are in the Lynchburg area. Over the last few years we have sampled many different pizzas and appetizers, occasionally have room for dessert. Recently we tried a sandwich. For the most part all are quite tasty with only one (recent) disappointment (Mac and Cheesy Pizza - too little Mac and Cheese and just not "there" on the flavor scale). We were at Waterstone three times the last two weekends and each time were disappointed in our service - slow and inattentive. Usually there is a line out the door with a wait for a table, not these times, twice we walked in and were seated right away. Is there something going on we don't know about?Thank you for your review, Melissa! We are thrilled to hear that we are a go-to for when you're visiting Lynchburg! We apologize for the inconsistency in your service over the last couple visits, but we appreciate you writing us about the matter. We'd love to speak with you more personally about your last few experiences with us if you could email us at [email protected]

Located on the Bluffwalk in historic downtown Lynchburg, Virginia, Shoemakers American Grille offers fine cuisine in an upscale industrial setting. Its shoe themed rooms and décor reflect Lynchburgâs rich history in the early 1900âs as the mecca for all t
I had a lovely family dinner at this restaurant. My major complaint is with the entrance. My mother is 93 years old and me and my siblings took her for a motherâs day dinner celebration. There are very steep stairs that my mother had a very difficult time going down on entering the restaurant and then even more difficulty leaving. This definitely needs to be admended.Thank you for your review, Deanna! We are glad to hear your meal was wonderful! We apologize if a server or host was unable to answer this question, but we do have an elevator in our facility. You are always more than welcometo go through the Craddock Terry Hotel entrance and take one of their two elevators. One elevator leads you to the patio level, and the other takes you directly into the middle of our restaurant. The hotel always has a Guest Service Representative at the Front Desk who will happily assist you with directions. We hope this helps for future visits!
