Soups On Main serves organic-style foods, farm-to-ladle, pot-to-table in a cozy, setting on historic Hackettstown Main Street. We offer a selection of healthy, fresh, organic-style soups, organic sourdough bread, and an assortment of hot and cold organic
We stopped by in the middle of the afternoon today for lunch. We each had a medium chicken soup with rice and an organic bottled tea, and we split a Cuban sandwich. The sandwich was tasty, the soup was good with lots of chicken and I'd especially note that the soup was not overly salted the way most establishments serve it. I forgot to ask if the rice was whole grain. The bread with the soup was very good, and the bread on the sandwich (which may have been the same) was toasted and excellent. The total price was a little more than we expected, but we didn't see an itemized bill to figure out why we were surprised.

Modern gastropub with 24 taps of rotating craft beer highlighting several local NJ breweries. Upscale pub fare and a casual but energetic atmosphere
Even though it was a Sunday evening, place was hopping. We waited for about a half hour before being seated for dinner. The waitress was awesome with great suggestions for appetizers and entrees. The sandwiches were prepared hot and fresh. The waitress substituted the fries for a Caesar salad. The shrimp scampi dinner was fantastic with plenty of shrimp. Taste was amazing as well. Even the hazelnut creme brûlée and maple bacon ice cream was so delicious. This is a must stop for all travelers.

A wood burning grill is the focus of Redwoods cuisine. We feel that the flavors of food cooked over an open fire are enhance like wine aged in oak barrels.
After reading all the positive reviews, my wife & I were really looking forward to having lunch at this restaurant. The atmosphere was nice, the service was good too. But our lunch was just ok, not great. The turkey sandwich had hardly any turkey, it was very skimpy. We both left disappointed.Thank you for the feedback. I would love to know specifically what you had so I can discuss the issue with Chef. I do apologize for your experience here and I hope you might choose to give us another chance. Thank you again.

First visit, should not be my last, you could compare this to Stella G's in Hackettstown, fresh and unique. I have been to the pet store multiple times next-door and just never knew this place existed. With a request from one in the party we went, and had a very fun and fine experience. I would suggest a pig, farmer or chicken standing outside the store just to market the store to the person who does not frequent the area. I mean we are not in the prohibition era and there is no booze for my coffee! Lol. Then again, the joint was busting at the seams obviously, they are doing just fine, all the best!

James on Main is a wood grill fired American eatery serving creative brunch and dinner selections utilizing local, fresh and seasonal ingredients.
James on Main is a safe bet for a great meal for anyone lucky enough to grab a table at this cozy establishment. Our meal started with a nice Amuse Bouche (ours was hummus w/a bite accompanied by fresh veggies) and what followed next from appetizers to mains were all outstanding. Our large party loved everything the kitchen produced: frisee salad, littleneck clams, brisket, hanger steak, watermelon gazpacho, octopus, schnitzel - you name it. Everything was delicious, plated perfectly and served right-on-time. While James on Main doesn't have a liquor license, one need not fret as Shop Rite liquor (5 min walk) has an outstanding selection of wines you can buy and bring to the restaurant. Bonus: no corkage fee! Hackettstown should consider itself lucky to have such an outstanding dining option in the heart of town.Thank you for your kind review. Your credentials as a reviewer, as per your TripAdvisor contributions, are beyond strong. As the chef/owner of James on Main, I wanted to personally thank you for dining with us. If you find yourself in Hackettstown again, we hope you will join us in the dining room!

Living in Long Valley over 10 years, have been a frequent visitor to the Valley Restaurant. Service has always been very friendly, the bar regulars have remained the same, and the interior has undergone one minor refresh: the other changes have been less welcome. Food prices have increased which is understandable, but food quality and consistency have decreased which is a problem. Have lately noticed that some food quantities have declined as well, which is a "back door" price increase. Some examples; Chicken Pot Pie - quantity of chicken varies from order to order and the dish would benefit from more vegetables. Also, seems the potatoes were whipped into the sauce last time ordered which I guess makes it thicker? In addition, the pie crust is either well baked (good!) or an under-cooked gooey mess. 3 Appetizer Combo ( Pick three appetizers from the menu for $8.95.) - As pictured, this version featured 4 chicken wings, 2 chicken fingers and 3 cordon bleu bites. The chicken fingers have been reduced from 3 pieces and the cordon bleu from 4 pieces. Has happened more than once so it's not an anomaly. Also, food may or may not be over-cooked and if take-out, you don't know until you get home. Quantity of french fries included with some sandwiches has also decreases. That said, there's still some decent food, such as the soups, turkey pub club, Mexican dishes, and the wings ( when they're properly cooked ). Will continue to visit as it is convenient, just not as frequently.

Went with my daughter, and grandson, and enjoyed one of the best burgers I've ever had. Pick and choose, and they actually serve it the way you request it. The fries are to write home about. Total-experience including the service was excellent. Highly recommend!

The bison burger was quite tasty.I got their sampler of 6 beers, and all we're good. Their IPA was excellent. The atmosphere was nice and the price is reasonable. Overall a great place to go after walking around hacklebarney park. We will go back again.

What a wonderful and unexpected find. Delicious, very fresh seafood, beautifully prepared, right in Long Valley! Saturday night family dinner. Children were happy with the kid's menu which doubled as coloring pages/puzzles (and were given coloring pencils). Exceptionally good service. Delightfully calm and inviting decor and atmosphere. House salad OK and clam chowder, while having a great flavor, lacked sufficient clams. Rhode Island Black Bass was fabulous - perfectly prepared and a wonderful dish. Husband's fish and chips were fresh with a great crisp batter. We'll definitely be back.
