Home of The Original Golden Tendersâ¢, Golden Chick is a fast food restaurant chain offering Golden Fried or Roast Chicken, Fried Catfish, Sandwiches, Fresh Salads, Yeast Rolls and a variety of Sides.
We ordered enough food for 20 people and carried out. Good mashed potatoes and cole slaw, excellent rolls and amazing chicken! I think I'm now spoiled and will not be able to eat fried chicken anywhere else. This was a lightly battered, well seasoned, perfectly cooked, great lunch. Many thanks to the friendly staff. Good job.
Stopped in at Load Off Fanny's after a rain out at a music festival that I was attending. A burger and a beer was what I was looking for and that is exactly what they delivered!! They had a nice craft beer selection with many local choices. The burger arrived cooked to order and was large , topped with LTO and was very good. It came with a side of crispy thin cut fries. I also ordered the fried mushrooms which were actually sliced portabellas and were very good as well. Load Off Fanny's is worth stopping in if you are in Lockhart!! I will be back!!

What a pleasant find. This has an old cafe feel to it. Nothing fancy and the place could use a good scrubbing but the food was amazing. We stopped for breakfast. I had scrambled eggs with ranchero sauce, bacon, refried beans, fried potatoes, and tortillas.....a wonderful explosion of flavor in my mouth. My family had eggs & biscuits with sausage gravy. The coffee is the best! The staff are friendly and delightful. Be sure to stop here if traveling in the area.

They only offer brunch on Sundays from 11am-2.30pm so we thought we'd try it out today. Quite an extensive menu available, from typical American breakfast to Benedicts (one option comes with crabcakes), and skillet eggs to burgers, red fish on grits and grilled 3-cheese sandwich on sourdough. My husband had the American breakfast which was excellent value for $10, and came with the most delicious cheese grits and the lightest biscuit ever! I had the skillet eggs which came beautifully presented in a black skillet, and the eggs had obviously been whipped up first because they were really light and fluffly - however it didn't taste of much, even though I'd asked for bacon to be added (not much bacon though, to justify the extra $2!). It needed some flavor zing such as onion, cheese (feta would be great), herbs, something like that, and maybe a a bit of fruit chutney. And it also needed to come with a side of toast or muffin for the price of $12.95 ($14.95 including the bacon). The coffee was nicely presented in a French press but, again, it had very little taste. I think we'll ask for double-strength coffee next time! The music was rather loud, both inside and out, and considering the clientele, many of whom were over 60 and looked like locals, something a little less raucous would be more suitable in the daytime. Having said all that, I think the place has huge promise, and we'll be aiming to go back to try the dinner menu.

Chef and patisserie Chef driven made from scratch full service cafe in the heart of Lockhart on beautiful town square across from Historical Caldwell County Courthouse.
Number One---Great, classic brunch foods on Saturdays and Sundays! Then there's great lunches all week! Chef Sutton has created one of the best kept secrets in town. Looking for meat loaf and mash potatoes or a really great sandwich (large portions) and awesome fries, then come here. The dining area is small and cozy. The service is good and you have a view of the 1894 fabulous courthouse just across the street. One of my favorite spots in Lockhart.

This charming pizza place was one of the few places open to get a bite at somewhere other than a chain (or BBQ) at 4pm on a Friday afternoon in Lockhart. This served our purposes, as we merely wanted a snack and drink to tie us over. Located in an old, historic building just off the town square, the decor of the restaurant reflects its age: tin roof, huge square windows, etc. There is a bar (beer & wine only) and parking is on the street. We managed to thoroughly enjoy a glass of wine, an antipasto plate and some cheesy bread, all of which were extremely good. Next time we'll have to try the pizza!

Went here on a Saturday morning came from out of town. There hours say they open at 7AM. While that is true donât expect to be able to get anything but sausage. Why open and not have the full menu. They said around 1015AM they would have everything. We came back later and wished that we didnât. Brisket was like rubber and couldnât tear it apart. Wonât be back.

Slow-smoked meats & Southern desserts in a rustic setting with a full bar, patio & live music.
I've eaten at Black's before and loved the BBQ. But I noticed this trip that the sausages were very small, and nothing was cheap... rather expensive. And being from Texas myself, I have eaten some great BBQ in my home state in the past. There are several top-rated BBQ places in Texas, and this is a good one, but there are others I've enjoyed more. No gluten-free alternatives.
